This guy talks about why he gave the biggest amount you can pledge to the Kickstarter for Shenmue 3. I mean I understand where he's coming because the game really did change my life, but for someone who is barely making above minimum wage like myself, it's quite hard to fathom... man but being able to meet Yu Suzuki though... ok maybe I'd be willing to move back home with my mom for a year just to give that 10 grand to meet him lol.

I like the bit at the end where he mentions the effect Shenmue has had on people's lives, getting married, etc. & how different some folks' lives would be without the experience.

That's the amazing part for sure. I just can't fathom how much one's life can change from a 'video game' I don't like looking at Shenmue that way. There's a lot of video games out there, it's a story with life lessons and can teach you so much, if you just listen.

It puts thing's in perspective. Anyways, well put Peter. Thanks.

To Peter, should he see this: you're a hero, and everything you said is 100% spot on in my book. Amazing that a game is so beloved to inspire such devotion. That's a great thing to my mind, not a weird or worrisome thing.

Wow thanks for posting this here, and yes, that's me. I was contacted last week and I thought it was just a general chat on Facebook, but then it was published. I would have tidied my answers up a bit if I knew that was the case! But thanks for the kind words guys.

I just read the above link again and just to say, the kickstarter is probably one of the most powerful things I've seen and even people excluded from the Shenmue family are fascinated by our demands for the next installment to come. Peter has done what many others would love to do but merely couldn't. Heck, it makes him the man that stands out from the crowd. The man that has helped build Shenmue 3 magnificently. again, Congrats.
