Btw, english is NOT mandatory in Switzerland compulsory schooling system and neither is in Italy (as far as I know).
We can still choose which foreign language(s) we want to learn.
You may know that Switzerland has three official languages, and yes it's as complicated as it sounds.
Long story short, before english comes your native language of course AND german/french. Later and depending on which region you live in, you get to choose in between italian, french or english additional class.

That said, english is the universal language, I have no doubts about that.
On a sidenote, I would love to learn some japanese (Himuro guide may help!)

An absolute well done and respect to Nocon for getting the opportunity to work both with Suzuki-San and on the Shenmue Dev team. Life doesn't seem fair at times and you never get a break, but I'm over the moon for him and it also speaks volumes about the type of man Suzuki-san is. He just changed and shaped a young man's life and that is just so amazing.

I hope Nocon is in Japan next September. I'd love to meet him and shake his hand.

Don't get me wrong. I don't like him or Fluent in 3 months. It was just convenient and it stressed most of my own talking points without having to write it out over and over.

it'll be easier for Yu and NoCon to communicate with each other than it would be for them to to communicate with, say, 99% of the posters in this thread, who most likely aren't Asian and don't speak an Asian language.

Portugese and Italian people share basic English that has been put specially forward in schools since the EU creation, what do Korean and Japanese people share linguistically ?

Suzuki wouldn't have hired Noconkid if Noconkid could not understand what he needs to do for Shenmue 3. What exact arrangements they have we'll find out later. Noconkid has some Japanese ability and it could be enough to know what needs to be done. Maybe they have a korean Japanese in the crew who's happy to help with instructions. Perhaps, he also motivated to attend some Japanese language courses outside working hours.
