Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Thanks to Shenmue fans everywhere, 2015 saw the start of Shenmue III. 2016 will be a year with noses to the grindstone to make the next installment of Shenmue worthy of the expectations you have entrusted with us. We would like to again ask you for your support and cooperation for all that lay ahead this year.

There are two announcements for the first update of 2016: poll results for the exclusive rewards on PayPal, and the homepage gets a face-lift.

Poll Results

The results are in for the poll posted in the final update of last year asking whether or not Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards should be made available for the Slacker Backer PayPal campaign.

The polling period lasted from December 24, 2015 to January 1, 2016. All Kickstarter Backers who pledged for a reward of $5 or more were eligible to vote. Of the 68,533 eligible Kickstarter Backers, there were 15,110 respondents.

The poll results are posted below. 4,670 of the respondents answered, “Yes, please make the Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards available on PayPal.” 4,009 respondents answered, “No, Kickstarter Exclusive Rewards are for Kickstarter only.” And 6,432 answered, “Either is fine with me.”

Considering the strong response from those of you who felt that the Exclusive Rewards should remain exclusive for the Kickstarter, those Exclusive Rewards will not be made available on the PayPal page as originally promised.

Thank you all for your participation. We hope everyone will continue to let their voices be heard as we go forward with the project.

So they ran a poll. More people voted Yes than No. And they decide to keep the KS rewards exclusive to KS backers.

So why on earth was there a poll? In any democratic poll, more than 50% of votes would win. More people who had an opinion voted Yes over No.

What a waste of everybody's time.

Not to mention the fact most of us voted twice following the Twitter cock up.

Now that's retarded, I don't care what anyone else says. Just by going off the "either is fine with me" option, AJ and Ys Net should have given the "Yes" side what they wanted, especially when they got the most votes. If this kind of thing continues, it could be damaging.

EDIT: I wonder if there's something financial about it as well?

Again, if this is the kind of crap that continues, it could, no scratch that, will be damaging. I really wonder what's going on over there at both AJ and Ys Net. A win is a win.

This is also what concerns me most - by over-ruling the fair result they are risking damaging the trust & support of the backers (and potential backers).

Edit: It also makes the final wish that "everyone will continue to let their voices be heard" pretty ironic.

I was lining up one more donation. But not anymore. Especially if there's a chance it could be used to pay Awesome Japan's wages.

Happy to take money from the people but won't listen to the people. Worrying.

Perhaps Yu has been spending a bit too much time in China...

It doesn't help that the survey was open to anyone who saw the link.

I'll admit, my excitement of Shenmue III has decreased by 30% after seeing this pool BS.
If they pull something like this again, i might just forget it honestly....

I didn't wait 14 years for this...

It's certainly controversial and I can see either side of the argument. One way too look at it is like a political election where a certain number of seats (or in this case, votes) are needed in order for it to be classed as a majority. I guess it was decided that the votes were too close to really call it. That said, they shouldn't have offered a "don't care either way" option.

1.) Now I wouldn't go as far as to abandon something that's been fought over for more than ten years if something like this happens again. However, I would not be as willing to defend it from the attacks of the gaming media because this is the kind of negative shit they feed off of. In fact, I'd think some more of that will shake them awake if they've "fallen asleep".

2.) Again, I don't care if AJ was the best possible translation service at the time of their hire, but a much better job can be done and clearly they're not capable of that.

I wonder if these clowns passing feedback to Suzuki are the same ones who thought fans want the forklift back in Shenmue 3 or for (Shenmue 3 spoilers)
Chai to return in Shenmue 3. This will completely ruined the sense of satisfaction many of us got from beating him in Shenmue 1.
