Why is NeoGAF so locked down when it comes to who can register and what those who have registered can post? I've heard that it's not even a good forum.

Not a huge loss, Neogaf is a badly moderated forums which is only good for checking videogame news since they are posted pretty quick. I've seen people banned for the most trivial stuff.

You can't use an E-mail address on a public E-mail server like Yahoo or GMAIL. I used my personal E-mail to register. It took months for approval.

The only explanation I can think of is I used the name 'funny bear burgers,' which rubbed them the wrong way since I joined and immediately posted in the Shenmue thread. I definitely didn't post anything even slightly politically incorrect, unless they took issue with me criticizing that recent The Know video, which stars a woman.
