Random Shenmue III Thoughts

(Chapter 7 and beyond)

Shenmue 3 thoughts.

Postby BruceWayne911 » Fri Jul 20, 2018 9:18 pm

I've been a diehard fan of Shenmue since I was 14. When I heard about the Shenmue 3 announcement I thought it was a prank. With 7 million dollars raised how complete of a game do you think we'll get? I know 7 million is a lot but how far does it go for game budgets? I feel Shenmue 3 will be just enough to hold us over till Shenmue 4 and beyond can be made. I know its way to early to say this but with the success of Kickstarter and the Shenmue 1&2 remasters coming, there's no way that Yu Suzuki doesn't get full backing to continue the story. Anyways just my opinion, I'd like to hear the Shenmue community thoughts.

Hey, I've merged your topic with Random Shenmue III thoughts.

I wouldn't worry about the budget. Yu's got more to work with than just the initial Kickstarter money. Enough to make his 'full vision'. We should concern ourself with 4 when the time comes but for now the priority is making sure III is a success.

Ok, people, an odd thought crossed my mind the other day :
"What if Shenhua is an hidden agent of the true bad/good guys ?"

I know, this is probably not true, but, can you picture it :
Shenhua Ling as a puppet master leading Ryo onto acting along a plan...
Maybe a plan that opposes the objectives of the Chi You men ?

I was afraid to look like a troll by posting this.
But, it is a good food for thought :
Maybe we are in for a twist like the Chi you Men not being the major vilain.
Or, alternatively, Ryo is unknowingly helping an opposite organisation.
(Maybe a "good one" ?)

I am not betting on this, but, it crossed my mind :
Could we have a story about people overwhelming the odds of "fate",
by finding their own path, breaking from the influence of control groups ?

:-({|= That'd be pretty wild. Perhaps if it were like a Yakuza crossover game...? :-({|=

This is an interesting thought. But i guess no. They could have a magical connection. Ryo's father had both mirros. It would be very interesting to know from who the mirrors are and how he get both before Lan Di captured the Dragon Mirror?

I'm fairly certain that Spike Chunsoft will be publishing the local Japanese version of Shenmue 3.

I need an opinion(s). I haven't been a gamer for quite sometime, however, with the release of Shenmue I and II HD, along with III, I'll be picking up a controller, again. That said, would it be a better investment to purchase a PS4 Slim or Pro? I'm just wondering if the beefed-up features in the Pro (4K, SmartTV capabilities, etc.) is worth the extra $100.

If you're just grabbing 1, 2 & 3 then I'd go for a slim. I don't think they benefit from the Pro at all. The Pro doesn't play 4k Blu Rays either for some reason (which is the main reason I never bothered to upgrade).

There are a few games that take advantage of it; have a search and see. But if none of those catch your eye then it probably isn't worth the extra.

That being said though, if you see yourself streaming a lot of 4k content like Netflix and Prime Video, the Pro will do a good job at that.

I noticed that too, thanks for making a gif. (Source: The kickstarter documentary video pinned to the forum right now)

I'm assuming that was the footage they shot in 2016. It's really great to see it was looking like a playable game way back then, whereas we didn't get to see the first official gameplay screenshot until today almost 2 years later. I can't wait to see any other early footage they can show, it will be even more fascinating once we have the finished product to compare it to.

As much as I want to upgrade to the 4 capsule toys, I just cannot justify it. I just upgraded to the $250.00 tier, preordered shenmue I & 2, kickstart backed the documentary and ordered the vinyl record. Pretty broke :(

It depends on the picture they show, in these pics he looks more "jacked". His quads looks bigger than before.

Ah yeah, comparing those pics to current Ryo doesn't show much of a difference. In the new screenshot though he looks pretty thin.
