Somebody should pass Kiske and squall's logos on to Cedric/Yu, if they haven't been sent already.

Don't have the guts to do that. Not with this amateurish version of the logo anyway.
Too much love and respect for Shenmue creator to send anything not perfect to Suzuki San.

Don't beat yourself up over it, I think you've done a pretty good job of at least illustrating that there is an alternative to the Papyrus logo that evokes the original, but still fits Yu's desire to split the lettering up.

That's fantastic Kiske, I love that!

Can I make a suggestion just to see what it looks like? See the dots, could they be removed altogether? In fact the entire line behind the bottom of the "S"? Also remove the swish of the slight connection on the "h" and the loop at the top? If you are busy, I will have some time in a few hours to mess around and do it. Also perhaps space the letters out a little more. That way it still remains more or less in the same style, BUT also removes the cursive element and spaces the letters which Suzuki-san is after. I think it's a winner!

Just to see what it looks like, since this can still sort of fall under cursive. I think Suzuki-san would need to see that.

I am trying my best to look at it from a person who has never heard of Shenmue before, and I can't help see that the "n" can be mistaken for a "v" and the "m" can be mistaken for a "w" as it stands currently. James highlighted this in another topic.

If we can work on that, it may help even more.

The N and the M seem a bit too thick in my view, but I feel this is a good compromise between the old logo and one without cursive. Great job!

Hoping to see a tweaked version on the next batch of Shenmue III screenshots. ;)

If we can't make a logo for Yu, then Shenmue III should have the old and original logo, so players who played the game at least once a decade ago will easily recognize that it is Shenmue.

The Kiske's one reminds me the Disney's Aladdin font in a negative way. But with some little tweaks, maybe we get the perfect logo here. The squall's one deserves applause too.

The idea of having a fan artwork as official logo looks fantastic and very symbolic. If Yu really comes to that way, the only thing to do is not to officially launch a fan competition. It must be a fan gift or lobbying. Although I doubt Yu will pick a non-professional one.

Would someone please explain why they "prefer" the new logo?? ---> No judgments will be made if the rationale is that you can't read cursive, ignorance is no crime it's just something to be remedied through education.

We'll start a Cursive Writing 101 class here at the Dojo and by late next year you'll all be lean mean cursive reading machines!!!

The poll doesn't ask if the new logo should be used, it asks if the original logo should be used. The content of this thread proves it's not a binary decision.

Me? I voted no out of curiosity, to see if you had any more toys left to throw.
