Thanks Mr. Inafune for talking to Mr. Suzuki about KS Funding and now Shenmue will continue.

Mr. Inafune is a legend for game series like MegaMan and ONIMUSHA.

Actually, the first people who talked to Yu Suzuki about Kickstarter were Ryan Payton and Mark Cerny.

^That, and Gio Corsi from Sony seemed to be the one at Sony who started the talks happening due to the fan demand in the first place.

And of course Cedric Biscay is producing it. Fail to see why we should thank Inafune for this?

From what I heard it was Suzuki who contacted Adam Boyes directly. He then called Gio, and immediately established it was to kept between the 2, with the code names Ebisu and Ramen.

The Kickstarter was already being planned before any conversation with Sony, at which point they got on board to help in a big way. Ryan Payton is publicly credited by Suzuki as the first one to pitch the idea of Kickstarter to him, although he did get advice from Inafune later on. Tim Schafer of Double Fine was at the same dinner in Barcelona (a year before the announcement) so might have chimed in with some tips as well.

From what I remember, Adam Boyes said in an interview (and as HS said above) that Sony approached (at the time of the Shenmue Postmortem, which happened before the Gamelab event at Spain) Yu Suzuki about how they can help with Shenmue III. Yu Suzuki said to them that he is preparing a Kickstarter campaign about it. Sony said "interesting". Then the private talks began, and the outcome of this is known.
