Nothing other than perfection to get another Shenmue veteran on the team! And that video of Shenhua gave me goosebumps - I really wasn't expecting anything like this just yet in a KS update, so it was a nice surprise! \:D/

This was a stupidly good update.

And I feel blind for not noticing shenhua's earrings, they're huge !

I like that the screen/test has that urban shenmue I vibe.

I feel ok with the world today.

She had earrings here (I had this as my wallpaper for ages back in the day):

Maybe they included it in that early model as a test for this getup later on, but I don't think the earrings will be part of her standard outfit.

Very happy with the update and for the 'new' incorporation to the team! With every upddate I can feel that it'll be a great game with the true Shenmue essence!

Could anyone translate the japanese subtitles of this picture?

I must say it's nice and helpful of them to leave hints of Japanese text in each video so that we can analyze them to death.

Anyway, the gist of the subtitle is:

"Occasionally, there are even times when the mountains along the Li River bring misfortune..."

That's awesome, it screams Shenmue, and Shenhua. It reminds me, when Shenhua told Ryo how the water changes colors throughout the day.

To topic: That's good news, the more people they get onboard from the original games, the better. It's just going to increase the odds even more, that a real Shenmue 3 will end up being made, apposed to a Shenmue wannabe/clone.

To Amir: I was never too fond of that concept drawing. The clothing, and headpiece I like(It's very fitting for her), but I absolutely loath all the jewelry she's wearing, it just makes it all look too busy, and makes Shenhua seem like one of those stuckup ritzy types.

If Shenhua has any jewelry, I personally think it should be limited to a single pendant made of Jade, possibly the river stone, that the mirrors are made of.

Probably has more to do with shenhua ancestry than the "actual" shenhua.

Yea, that's a possibility, infact I contemplated such myself, but unlike anything else about the Shenmue games, there's literally no info to hint at such being one way or another.

However we'll know for sure in Shenmue 3 one way or another, as Shenhua has genetic memory, so I suspect there will be a bunch of memory/flashbacks, and such. I just hope that this Isn't one of Shenhua's getups(well atleast as far as the Jewelry goes anyway. While I like her original outfit more, that outfit is pretty awesome too).

Any chance of figuring out what the stuff on the right means?

I missed noticing this, you've got eagle eyes! Each figure has a name written next to it.

The drawings have a very simplistic style... wonder what these represent.

Wow, nice catch, Spaghetti! My initial thoughts on these incredibly simplistic representations of the characters was that it was just a way of presenting their in-game design with a very basic guideline, but then I saw Nozomi's name, and the design doesn't match that of the Nozomi we're all aware of whatsoever. (Also, the only character by the name of Seiji in the series is an unremarkable forklift operator at the Harbour, so I sincerely doubt that's who they're going with.) Unless there's going to be a new character named Nozomi in Shenmue III, what if these designs are simply emblems or some repute (e.g., custom clothing patches or accolades for completing certain challenges)?

Could be representation of some of their in-house staff? :)

Holy fuck this update made my day. I cannot believe I have seen actual clip of Shenmue III. Not a demo, not a teaser. But an actual clip of gameplay. I cannot contain how that makes me feel and I want to hug all of you, even the ones who don't like me. Holy fuck.

Everyone, we made this possible. Let that sink in. It's enough to make you cry of happiness.

I'm both jealous and not jealous of Amir. On one hand he's seen updated footage. On the other hand, I know for a fact I wouldn't be able contain myself if I knew or saw unreleased Shenmue III details. I'd have to tell everyone in the community and how awesome it was.

Holy heavens, 2016 is one heck of a year but we still have Shenmue to hold us over. It's the small things like this that we should appreciate. I think I might take a week off of work for when this drops. I have never done that for a game but I am considering it for this one.

I have never been so excited, happy, thrilled, and emotional about a game I've never played. I really feel this will be something special and Shenmue in spirit. I know it's dumb to get all of this from a five second clip but I don't care. It just smells like Shenmue. Can't wait to go to my second home.

Just to clarify, I didn't see any footage back in February beyond what was publicly released, just some encouraging evidence of progress on Shenhua. I'm sure the Tokyo and LA dinner attendees will get a much more in-depth look as Shenmue III will be much further along in development ;)

Either way, just want to use this as an opportunity to apologize to Peter and others on the site for my actions and any hurt (and headache!) I may have caused. Shenmue should be the driving force that binds us together and we're getting it. :D

I'm thinking this might be the answer. Seems like a very Japanese way of doing orientation.
