What if the release was preceded by full HD remakes of Shenmue 1 and 2?

I think, if the conditions were right, Shenmue 3 could be an all time best seller.

I think, if the conditions were right, Shenmue 3 could be an all time best seller.

In a perfect world, the conditions of which are decided upon Shenmue fans, yes, it's entirely possible; but this is reality, so it's not going to work out like that. No matter how much money is put behind the marketing of Shenmue III; no matter if full HD remakes/remasters of the first two games are put out; and no matter if every copy of the game comes with a free blowjob, it will still be outsold by RDR2. Rockstar are one of the hardest hitters in the industry, and both their name and franchises carry serious weight, the likes of which an indie studio from Japan will never be able to surpass.

With GTA V having shipped over sixty-million copies, I predict RDR2 is going to do at least twenty-million. At least. Best case scenario, Shenmue III is going to sell a few million over the course of its existence, and if that's enough to see sequels, then that should be good enough for all of us.
