It is just a way to keep backers busy and have a sense of contribution. No harm will be done. It's not like Ysnet will do anything that's outside their current budget and workload.

So anecdotal but a lot of my non-Shenmue friends and even more casual Shenmue friends are starting to think III is never going to come out. I really hope they give a decent update this month.

I think clearly the biggest thing they could possibly do both for the benefit of backers and heightening the game's visibility to the general public, would be to release a gameplay trailer. Beyond that, everything in here are good suggestions.

Whether they have the capacity to do any of it at the moment is another story. (It's not as if people haven't vociferously been requesting this sort of more substantive update on the actual game and its status all along. But, there's no harm in continuing to try. Politely.)

Point is, don't concern yourself with the worries of people that clearly don't follow the project closely. When the trailers and gameplay eventually hit, they will take notice again. We do not require that every individual out there constantly think about shenmue. All we need is hype towards the tail end, so it peaks nicely.

Further down the road I would like to see updates on the different types of mechanics the game has and how they evolved from the previous Shenmues.
