Unfortunately it's a symbiotic problem that won't go away without major changes to how marketing is changed in the games industry.

Devs can't make the change because they risk tanking their game's public perception, gamer's can't change because they've been conditioned to view things a certain way.

That's actually kind of a great idea. It's so very... 80s.

New QTE system sounds interesting.
I'm a huge pinball fan, so this is very exciting.

I disagree. Gamers can and should change regardless of condition. I generally don't like people that use conditioning as an excuse for their poor behavior.

There's always Excite QTE 3 and QTE Title for fans of the old ones, though.

Storywise, QTE based on "sound" might make sense with Predictive Explosion.

Haha, I was gonna say, a tape recorder sounds like our boy BlueMue, and so it was! How did Yu react?

Maybe I'm being cynical.

I do think that a change in how games are marketed will start with gamers, though, because the publishers and developers will have too much on the line to take a step out on this issue.

That's true. It'll be cool if that's worked in somehow.

Both he and Hideaki seemed to recognize it. They both showed great interest and laughed when they saw it.

Here's the promised video:

I dunno if I'm okay with people at Gamescom seeing an extended trailer. I think backers should have seen that first before anyone, especially if they're not going to put that online. Not saying the people at gamescom were not backers, but it's that you don't have to be one to be at gamescom.

It was a press thing I believe, rather than public.

And likely to happen, considering Yu was giving interviews and walking them through Powerpoints about the game's progress. Gotta give the press something to show up.

Given the teaser, screens, and slew of interviews out of Gamescom about Shenmue III, I dunno about getting too sore about the press getting to see an extended trailer when we've gotten such a media overload already.

Especially when we consider what we were shown was already quite unfinished and quickly put together. It's maybe for the best YSnet kept some stuff closer to their chest.

I immediately noticed it and wondered if it was you. That's when I asked if I could take a picture of the tape recorder and if there were some Dojo people present. I was a bit surprised that even Hideaki seemed to get it immediately.

I was also going to say that. It was for business people and the press as far as I know. I was there and didn't see anything more besides the publicly released video.

What's the use of press seeing the video? Usually when press see a video, it's for them to cover it. There's been nothing like that as far as I know.

I'm not overly bothered but I understand where you're coming from. Weren't we promised that anything shown at Gamescom would also be shown to backers?

Didn't Peter say he would be filming anything shown to the press?

Yes, and that's one of the main points that frustrate me.
