lol @ that post

In a recent interview, Yu Suzuki said he couldn't disclose how many people are working on the game. Why do you think that is? (Not saying I demand transparency; I don't really care, though I'd love to know the answer)

Where are your own shots of Yu's office? Didn't you live in tokyo?

For one thing, they probably don't want to be bothered by crazy stalker "fans" showing up and hassling them when they need to be doing work.

As far as we know, YSnet has two buildings. A Gotanda dev studio, and an office in Ebisu that seems to be used as a mailing address (I may have these backwards).

The dev team are partially or entirely contractors (YSnet's business model is to scale up or down with the project), with development staff provided by other companies (like Neilo), and individuals like KidNocon working from home.

The exact number of devs is unknown, and Yu doesn't want to talk about it.

Which is fair enough, because unlike Gastarot says, the transparency is not mandatory. So don't be a dickhead about it.

Kiske hahaha just perfect ;-)

interessting to see some reactions

it's a simple and normal question... for exemple Star Wars: Episode 7 we know where is the production, we know how many people work for this, and we know how many budget they have. i'm wondering by lot of secrets. nothing relating with Yu Suzuki san O:)

Does it really matter where they are? I was a bit surprised with Yu's reaction to being asked how big the team was but, again, does it really matter? Probably not.

Nope. It doesn't matter. And it's kind of creepy to post their offices on a fan forum. IMO. Public domain info and all, but still comes across weird.

Outsourcing is the answer, and why he can tell the exact amount of people working on it, sorry to kill your Dreams.

Yeah, it's a bit harsh and there's probably a language barrier issue but "this transparency is mandatory" is an incredibly entitled thing to say; Kickstarter or not.

WHy is outsorcing a bad thing ? Japanese developers are not the most tech advanced today, and are certainly expensive.

From the Gamekult interview:

GK: Are you working with outsourcing studios? For instance, TOSE or Virtuous.

YS: We have our own team where people from various companies are working. In general, everything is made internally. The goal is to avoid outsourcing.

Outsourcing is probably being used in some aspects as most game studios do it at this point, but it's not necessarily why Yu doesn't want to talk about dev team numbers.
