Where's my man Ryan Payton at on there? Or is he not official?

Ryan Payton has no affiliation with Shenmue 3 except for being a fan of the series.

He attends meetings in an advisory capacity, but his official status as it pertains to the payroll isn't clear.

Lakshya Digital also has at least two other offices... near Seattle and San Diego, IIRC. They also work on multiple projects at once. So it's hard to say where the Shenmue work is being done or by how many.

At a minimum, at least 26 individuals from Lakysha are contributing to the Shenmue 3 development. What you see before you forms the crux of the art team. If additional art resources are required for Shenmue 3, chances are they are going to be added in India where costs are substantially less than in the United States or Japan.

I don't think it's really clear how many people from Neilo are working on Shenmue III. From Tak Hirai and the company's Twitter it seems they are involved involved in a bunch of other projects like smartphone games.

Yeah. Trying to divine the numbers is... a bit pointless.

This is incorrect. He chairs the advisory board, according to the Back in my Play episode he first featured on.

Don't really know what the advisory board really does, but in models of Agile project management the input of a "stakeholder" from outside the development team is used to determine the path forward after a milestone or a release, so they could be an external body that advises the team as an outside view.

People were trying to compare Kingdom Come to Shenmue III a few weeks back and this shows that at least internally they're twice the size, but as I pointed out you can hire 3 people in Prague for the same amount of money you pay one employee in Tokyo.

None of this really means much as you can make great games with hundreds of people or with less than 10. There was an article recently about how Telltale games have struggled ever since they hired more people as it became harder to manage and the company was juggling too much. Yet you have Naughty Dog who made 3D mascot platformers yet as they have got bigger and are now arguably one of the best studios in the world. It all depends on the people and management running the place.
