Hello Everyone,

For the update today, we would like to give a big welcome and introduction to the new members of the project team, Deep Silver.

Gaming fans may already know, but Deep Silver is a video game publishing company and worldwide game distributer with a wealth of experience bringing games from Japan to countries around the world.

Their partnership is very reassuring, particularly in the promotion and sales departments, which our development team needs the support.

Message from Deep Silver:
We are all in Deep Silver delighted to be working with such a great team on such an anticipated game. We are as excited about this release as you are! Here is a shot of our global marketing team members at a recent Shenmue III meeting (gamescom 2017, Germany)

Concerning future updates
Deep Silver and Ys Net are moving forward with promotional planning that will encompass the whole of the project. Due to these adjustments, there will be an increase in instances where there will not be an update each and every month.

However, we are also looking into other media and events besides updates to give you a better experience as we roll out latest information, so please stay tuned!

The next dev room report is in the works, so please look forward to that, too! Thank you all for your continued support!

Nice little reassuring update. Looking forward to the next Dev Room Progress Report; hopefully they'll finally show off some FREE Battle gameplay or new moves.

I wonder if they posted this today, instead of yesterday or tomorrow, because today is Ryo's 49th birthday? :)

At least we now have an official statement about the things we already assumed were the reason for the lack of updates and insights into the project. I fully respect that. Just let them work and do their best.

So does this mean Awesome Japan have been replaced by a more professional team?

A shame that the monthly update schedule has now been officially scrapped. Still, hopefully this signals that Deep Silver is preparing to ramp-up the marketing in other ways.

I don't know about professional. Some of the spelling in the update is pretty questionable.

Well, AJ had set somewhat of a low bar so it wouldn’t be hard to top.

I assume at the very least this is written by AJ, they even specify which part is by Deep Silver.

I don't think that less updates will be a bad thing.

People don't seem prepared to understand what constitutes game development, and seem adamant in criticising something that is clearly work in progress and just a peak into development.

I do hope we can see some real gameplay early 2018 though.

Less updates are fine if they are ramping up production to finish the game. Get this completed and we'll have all the info we need to have endless conversations on here.

I'm assuming Deep Silver has decided that it's best not to show parts of the game's development until it's more solid. This could be good; it would mean The Dev Room Reports are less useless and have more content in them.

I agree. Although it was deepsilver that were responsible for pushing the release of the trailer even though it was unfinished. Hopefully they learned from that mistake and we won't be seeing anymore rushed material from the shenmue team to meet deepsilver's deadlines, especially considering how much of a sensitive topic kickstarter games have become.

Can't help but to express my frustation. We are a few days away from what was the original Intended release date for this game when the Kickstarter ended and have yet to see a single glimpse of gameplay, in-detail scenario or even characters besides some random NPC.

My hype and overall expectations are reaching an all time low and I am beggining to forget about his game altogether.

Come on now. With the agile methodology, the game isn't fully polished until the final stages of development. They could show plenty now, but it would be rough and there would be plenty of placeholders, but dummies would take it for the final build. You can't exactly blame them for holding their cards close to their chest.
