They look good, but I still think that Ryo looks considerably different than he did in previous games and that kinda bothers me.

They certainly seem slower to pick these up than they were to go "lol PS2 graphics" last August.

looks good but still off. Ryo still looks too feminine / weird (thin eyebrows and lips) and huge hands lol. 20 year old models from the shenmue passport disc shouldnt look better than a 2018 (or 2019) game. No idea why they dont try mimicking those as closely as possible.

I think everything is shaping up really well. Environments are S-rank, I'm sure they'll nail Ryo and Shenhua come launch.

Can't wait to see more at MAGIC; hoping for images of Niao Sun and Lan Di

Those locations once again...

Ryo's face looks more and more like the everyone's expecting it to be. And I thought they said the version from few months ago was final (and I was and still am fine with it), maybe I got that wrong. Anyway, looks great.
The body though needs to be slimmed down a little. Don't know why they showed it like this, but I'mpositive they'll make him look more athletic inthe final version.

Shenhua still looks way off from the original pretty much in every facial feature, but honestly as I've said many times, to me it's pretty much all about the game's settings and locations, and eveytime they show environments they are 250% spot on.

Last thing... that pic gives a strong bf&gf vibe (not just because of the hands)... dont know if they're trying to tell something... but it sure looks a little weird, to me at least .

Not weird to me. My headcanon has always been that Ryo smashed both Fangmei and Shenhua at some point in Shenmue II. Fangmei's birthday and when in the cave with shenhua haha

From what I can see, Ryo it's similar to those cgi arts back from 2000's, I totally love it. Shenhua has improved a lot too, I would take them as they are for finish right now. They are near perfect.

I swear Ryo and Shenhua's models just keep getting better and better with each new appearance; they really appear to be coming into their own with this particular revision. Even though we're only able to see Shenhua from a side-on perspective, her face has been massively improved compared to her derpy Gamescom look.

Just look at the difference from August 2017 compared to now:

They did say he would be working on the character models throughout so i'm sure we will see further improvements, possible even multiple times as more news starts to come, even that picture could be the state Ryo & Shenhua were in some months ago.

Also the development process they are using (agile) is an iterative process so various aspects of the game will improve as they get round do it, so expect incremental improvements in general.

Loving how things are coming along with the characters can't wait to see the finished article. The backgrounds as before are breathtaking, regularly have jaw wide open upon the reveal of the locations. Still am full of hope for this project

15 (Fangmei) and 18 (Ryo) isnt that shocking of an age gap, especially for 1987 China.

The models are perfect now imo. I would say I hope shenhua's change of clothes is explained early on in the game.

I don't see the difference in the actual model tbh.
His eyes are squinting a bit due to him actually having facial expressions.

But the model itself? Looks the same. I agree with whomever said his proportions are a little off, and his facial features are a little feminine.

Seems Yu's main aim is to make Ryo "handsome" and Shenhua "cute", as opposed to making them closely resemble their original models.
