Do you think that Shenmue 3 was being made for Saturn?

Shenmue 1 and 2 were both being made for the Saturn (as can be seen in the video on the Xbox version). I don't know if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if Shenmue 3 was also in production back then? Maybe we'll get a video of it after we beat the game.

They were building it with Saturn tech coz the Dreamcast was still being worked on. And at the time the two games were one. So it's safe to say that Shenmue III wasn't being made for Saturn.

No. It wasn't even being made for the Dreamcast as far as I'm aware.

Do we know how the story was supposed to be split while it was planned on the Saturn ?
And, if they were building the concept at the time, the idea of "Shenmue n" doesn't really means anything.
(From all the insistance from Yu Suzuki about using the agile methodology.)
From what I remember of the Saturn prototype video in SH2, there was :
>Scenes similar to ones in early and middle of SH1
>a part with the tape investigation that was featured in SH2
>a part in some woods (maybe experiments for guilin forest areas ?)
My guess is that they were trying out assets and basic engine to be used for the whole saga.
With maybe more emphasis on the beginning,
but maybe there's also some undisclosed development part for latter in the story.
We may never know, yet I'm fine with this.
After all, nobody would harass a writer to have his whole drafts and notes log, isn't it ?
So, I guess we will only get parts that the Dev. team feel fine showing us.
And, once again, I, for one, I'm fine with never knowing anything more about the Saturn prototype.

Shenmue 3 on the Saturn no. But I do think there is some sort of Shenmue III Dreamcast work that exist somewhere. If you want to be technical about it, Niao Sun would be living proof of Shenmue III work being done already.

Yu said in last year's Gamescom interview with 500k that what Saturn Shenmue was only 30% complete before it was canceled. They had done a lot visually but there wasn't much substance to the prototype. I guess it's pretty safe to say they didn't work on S3 for the Saturn.
I think however, they wanted to make S2 go a little bit further down the storyline which was then canceled due to Sega being in financial trouble at that time. There are those screenshots of Ryo walking around a rural Chinese village which were discovered like 12 years ago.

There are video models of Sun Niao so it was being made on Dreamcast to some extent.
