Will be interesting to see if they do their own updates separate from Awesome Japan, or if they're just going to re-release AJ's updates.

Looks like serious business is about to start.

It's great but not that surprising since YsNet announced last year that Deep Silver would step in for the marketing and with E3 coming in 3 months, then Gamescom and TGS, there will be marketing to do... as long as there isn't a delay announced by then.

I assume AJ will still have to take care of the Backers updates. I hope so at least, in order to avoid backlash from angry backers.

Hopefully we'll get to see Lan Di in 1080p for the first time!

Cedric also responded to someone the other day saying he can't comment on updates and footage etc., stating something like "Deep Silver are responsible for marketing."

So I guess we can conclude from the update last year stating there would be less frequent updates as the marketing strategy forms and the comments from Deep Silver and Cedric, that what some of us speculated (that Deep Silver would be taking over marketing, including what and when we see footage over the next year or however long it takes for the game to be released).

I'd be more than happy if DS takes full control of marketing and branding.

I mostly read that comment as DS just reposting new KS materials as they come - which is what they've been doing recently haven't they?

That said, Deep Silver are probably going to be more heavily involved in future showings of the game. MAGIC kind of felt like the last informal showing of Shenmue III outside the occasional Kickstarter update going forward. I don't put a huge amount of stock into what Cedric says anymore, but you get the vibe that DS are taking a tighter grip when he explains (or does damage control, depends on your outlook) on why more didn't get shown last month.

Also with Kingdom Come off Deep Silver's promotional slate, I can only imagine some PR staff are moving onto other stuff; which may include Shenmue III.
