Hey guys. I apologise if this has been covered already, but i haven’t lurked properly for a few years now!

The recent HD annoucement got me thinking. I know S3 will be amazing for us fans, but I honestly feel it may not do “well” commercially, with people who haven’t played the originals. Obviously the HD remake helps this somewhat.

However I cannot help but think this may be the last instalment of the Shenmue world. If this proves to be true, would you prefer some sort of closure to the story in S3, or left open ended for a “possible” S4?

Personally I would like a bit of both, but definitely more closure than S2.

It will not conclude the story. Too much to fit in one game only.

We can only hope they'll make the next game(s).

Bearing this in mind then, would you prefer an ending which offers some closure at least or a full blown cliff hanger?

Possibly not a cliffhanger, but I feel like that's what's going to happen anyway
Seriously though, right after they announced Shenmue3, my main worry has been about whether or not they'll be able to make the next one (or two) and end the saga. That's my only concern to be completely honest

Yeah that’s my fear. It will be amazing for us fans I just don’t think it will resonate with others enough for it to be deemed a “success”. Hopefully it does well enough for them to bankroll another one though

If I recall correctly, Yu Suzuki indicated in a fairly recent interview that 3 will end with a cliffhanger.

If I'm remembering right all he said was the story will be open.

Cliffhanger was not used as a descriptor.

I'll take your word for it! If I happen to stumble across whatever it was that I saw, I'll post it, but I could have just interpreted it incorrectly.

I imagine it'll end on much less of a cliffhanger than 2 did. Basically, I'm expecting something that offers at least a bit of closure, while obviously leaving the major points unresolved for sequels.

I recently red somewhere on this very board that the original concept for the chapters had been revisited (don't know how heavily). I sure would like to know more about it.
