Is Digital Rex enough to create Shenmue 3 alone?

Is Digital Rex enough to create Shenmue 3 alone?

Postby Man Mo Something » Sun Jan 11, 2004 11:40 am

Looking at the credits for Shenmue 2, I see AM2 gives many thanks to other development teams for their help... Sonic Team, WOW Entertainment, and Overworks.

Since Yu Sukuzi has a whole new team of developers, not the AM2 crew he was familiar with, then it seems like it would be too much for them alone. I know Microsoft would be helping out with some of the development.

WIth the whole Sammy issues coming up also, the next Shenmue will need a lot of involvement from the Sega teams. Just listen to the music at the Tomato Convenience store. Now you KNOW that was composed by Sonic Team. It sounds like it's straight from the NiGHTS soundtrack.

Anyone know DRx's size in staff?

Well I also read that Yu got to hand-pick his own staff members, so I guess there is no worries there.

well since the developers can work faster now since they are already used to working with the engine and such. so a smaller team can make a product that's just as good or even better just because they are familiar with what they are doing.

DR started with a staff of 27, and Yu does not have "a whole new team of developers" but is working with people he knows, trusts and respects. Yes, they undoubtedly will go to a lot of outside companies for help with stuff, including the SEGA studios. What of it?

suzuki-san said he's hand picking employees to add to the current selction of 27 and that a team of 60 to 120 is what his preference is.

I don't think Yu suzuki can do anything to make Shenmue 3. It's not up to him and there is nothing he can do about.

Digital Rex is starting to look like a joke. They dont do much, they have no money, my dormroom is bigger than their office. I have little confidence in Digital Rex Im sorry to say. :?

It's not that it's just that he is not in charge and would need the go ahead from someone higher up then him.
