Niao Sun/Chonghua/Tyojun-new description translated by Kiyuu

(Chapter 7 and beyond)

Postby JalceW » Tue Apr 20, 2004 5:03 pm

Going back a bit: -
BTW, ancient capitals in China and Japan usually had four gates to guard the city.
Modern Chinatowns still follow that custom. There's some information about the gates:

http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/XJ&sdn=gojap ... t1020.html

Vaguely on the subject of this: did anyone notice the four fountain-like objects (don't know the exact name, but they look somewhat like a tap-and-sink) in Kowloon Walled City? They depict the Heavenly Beasts, and each one seems to be placed roughly near each entrance to the Yellow Head Bldg - the Tiger near the West Gate (Thousand White Qr), the Phoenix near the South Gate (Dimsum Qr), the Snake-Tortoise near the North Gate (Stand Qr) and the Dragon where the East Gate would be (Dimsum Qr).

On the subject of the Four Leaders: although the theory of a "Ten-Tei" is a logical one, I very much hope that the storyline doesn't have Ryo picking off four equally skilled "sub-bosses" before challenging an as-yet-unseen "big boss" with little or no bearing on the previous events of the game. Lan Di is the only Chiyoumen member Ryo really has cause to oppose; shouldn't he be the final opponent fought at the climax of the series?

I read through these stickies now and then and I just wanted to add this after reading it all again. I don't think Lan Di will be the final one. I guess Ryo will get involved in the greater scheme of things. So he'll probably have to go against the whole Chi You Men instead of just Lan Di.

^ I think so too... but I'm thinkin that he'll have to go through everyone else before he gets to Lan Di, and then the last guy will be the main big boss

On the subject of the four beasts, I encountered the legend in an odd way. Anyone seen the animé Abenobashi? It mentions four animals that hold the area in harmony. A turtle to the north. a tiger to the west. a dragon to the east and a...pelican (close enough to a pheonix :P ) at the south. Just an interesting tie-in.

Id say the pelican might have been a bit of humor, that perhaps some of us may not get you know?

I dont know why they have to kep it a secret. Why dont they just tell everyone, YES WE ARE MAKING IT! Or, NO WERE NOT MAKING IT! Then you would for sure know.

Don't know if this has been posted or not but I asked my friend who happens to be Chinese what Chonghua meant, and separately they mean

chong = plant
hua = flower
Any thoughts?
