I really hope they are coordinating this in some way with the release of Shenmue III. Maybe a huge series promotion at Gamescom.

That's likely, yes.

They should know the release date at least a month in advance, because they're doing a physical release and it's at least a month between them handing off a golden master and the factories having enough manufactured stock ready to ship to retailers. You can go back and look for articles about when some other major titles went gold versus when they actually released, since a handful of popular titles usually announced that information. A month is generous, for the big titles it was usually longer.

That is the same date as the gamescom, isn't it? And If I'm not mistaken, yakuza 0 for pc is to be released in august too
