Hell Froze Over -- Selling Dreamcast Because of This.

Well folks, with Shenmue 1 & 2 finally being released in HD on PS4, it's time for me to sell off my classic Sega system.

I know... it's a classic and the last Sega system, not to mention a good Sega system. The problem is that it takes up space and now nearly every game I loved on Dreamcast is available somewhere else. This means that the only classic game systems that I'll be keeping are my Sega Genesis and Game Gear. Everything else will have been sold off.

What about those of you who still have your Dreamcasts? Will you be selling yours as well or keeping it for posterity?

I will be keeping my blue VMU for my nerd shelf. I downloaded Chao Adventure to it.

I still play Cosmic Smash and Crazy Taxi 2 all the time, so no.

Can I play Tech Romancer anywhere else? I don't think so.

Don't worry guys, I'm not dissing the Dreamcast. It was a great system. If there are still games you love on it not available elsewhere then that's a good reason to keep yours. It's simply not the case for me any longer:

A bit sad to hear this. I'll never let go of any piece from my full Dreamcast PAL set.
But if you want to sell any Shenmue game it is very wise to do so now before the inevitable price drop leading up to the I&II release.

i sold my dreamcast quite a while ago ( 2008) - i needed the money and had played s1/2 so many times, i felt ok to let them go.(when i did want to buy them back, the prices were crazy ](*,) ).. for me sHD will be quite fresh experience because i havent played them in years.

i imagine the price of dreamcast shenmue 1&2 on ebay will take a big hit when the HD games come along. ..so if you dont mind not owning the " original" games, i would say, sell asap.

I could never let go of my DC and especially Shenmue collection. I would sell them as a last resort.

Selling my Dreamcast? Hell no! The Dreamcast is still my favorite console ever and holds a special place in my heart.

Also the Ebay prices for Shenmue 1 & Shenmue 2 copies will probably have dropped now that the remasters have been announced.

Last but not least, I don't buy the space issue. There'd be a ton of other things I'd sell before selling my Dreamcast if I need more space.

Sad to hear that you're wanting to sell your Dreamcast. Even if you can find you favourite games on newer hardware I still think that a Dreamcast is worth keeping around for that authentic experience. Some games are better emulated then others, it's good to know that you always have the original versions on original Dreamcast hardware to return to at any time.

You have to be insane to want to get rid of it.

Not only does it have the original releases of Shenmue on there (as well as still being the only official place to find What's Shenmue?), but its incredible game listing still remains without Shenmue exclusitivity.

I mean, these games alone are worth holding on to the system for: Skies of Arcadia, Sega Rally 2, Sonic Adventure, Ecco the Dolphin, Chu Chu Rocket, Samba De Amigo (with maracas and dance mat), Jet Set Radio, Space Channel 5, Metropolis Street Racer, Evolution World of Sacred Device, Power Stone, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, F355 Challenge, Crazy Taxi 2, Speed Devils, Daytona 2001, Pen Pen Triathalon, Blue Stinger, IllBleed, Fighting Vipers 2, Zombie Revenge, Dynamite Cop, Confidemtial Mission...

And that's before all the amazing import games.

Like I said.... Insanity! lol

I may stick mine into storage now. I mean, I never really used it anyway but keeping it on my TV stand felt like a symbolic gesture. Now we're getting Shenmue III and HD, it's probably time to retire it.

If you don't need it anymore then I guess it makes sense to sell it. Did you only play Shenmue on it then?
I won't be selling mine for many reasons.

Three Words: Silent Hill Collection.

I would never get rid of my original games just because HD editions exist. They're hardly ever actually completely a definitive version. For every one Shadow of the Colossus & ICO HD Collection, there's about 5 Silent Hill HD Collections.

No I will continue to keep hold of my Dreamcast, it's still one of the greatest consoles ever made and I still play other titles on it. Also Shenmue 1 and 2 on Dreamcast gives off a bigger nostalgia boost.

Shenmue 1 and 2 for Dreamcast will remain authentic till the end

I don't think I'll ever sell my Dreamcast, although it has been staying in a closet for years now.
It's not my intention to sell it in the first place, and besides, they're being re-sold at ridiculously low prices.
