Remaster VS Original Comparison Video

Found this comparison video comparing the remaster to the DC version. It really shows how the remaster makes details pop. It's not got that washed out fuzzy look to it anymore. Maybe a few fog are effects are missing in the opening, but it's a WIP so I'm confident they'll be added back in.

This is definitely a sign of good things to come!

I'm completely mindblowed by Shenhua looking in a new direction. I never noticed that thing before! It's so creepy because it's the last thing supposed to change.

I see no difference.

Is it because you never saw Shenmue in high res before or am I missing something?

Obviously ive played the game on DEMUL many times. I am speaking from the point of view of new players, or those who havent played the game since the Dreamcast.

The game will need some solid aniso filtering, some AA, and it's golden (if they can add some DOF, SSR and bloom, it'll be amazing).

Hopefully the console version can downsample, I don't think PS4 XBONE will have any trouble with downsampled 4k (or sell it as a pro/X feature).

I never played it on emulators, I don't actually know how to say it but the dojo scene looks "too clean"
It might have been because of hardware limitations but it sort of gave it some really cool misty atmosphere.
Please don't kill me. 8-[

Shenhua looks great

Yea i get it. I am in that camp though, far right where i prefer a clean crisp look over a misty atmospheric tone at the cost of a modern day look. Maybe it can be achieved? I dont know i am not a game developer, but i am just super excited for this, and i want to see more!

There's a visual effect missing during the dojo scene, like a sort of "haze" overlay. Though it's nowhere near as prominent as the video, because a lot of that is just the low resolution. Guessing they haven't gotten it working yet, or are planning a replacement.

The prologue scene with Shenhua on the cliff is greatly improved even over DEMUL, though. A lot of work on the lighting and colour balance, and improved textures for Shenhua and the skybox.

The trailer was marked with WIP so - don't lose ya' shit. They're probably aware of this.

I’m really curious to see how the final product compares to the original on DC.

Actually…I’m almost more curious to see how it compares to the Demul version.

I think it's just lower resolution, and a more muted tone the original had (actually I missed it a lot while playing SIIx).

With proper AA and anisotopic filtering it'll be a lot less (and quite a lot less with DOF/bloom).

That Shenhua makes you think they're really trying (and SEGA beforehand said they were going to treat it as it deserves). I really think it's gonna be great.

Yeah, hopefully the effect is added or recreated somehow - my only concern is that a lot of the lighting/fog effects from the original Dreamcast Sonic Adventure were missing from Sonic Adventure DX (for Gamecube, PC, and later PS3 and 360) - at the cost of a lot of the ambience/atmosphere, seemingly due to the Dreamcast's lighting system being hard to recreate (apparently?), just hoping that won't be the case here :???:

Thanks for posting this. I was looking for a comparison vid (hoping someone had done one) last night, but couldn't find one.
