Shenmue Dojo

Just teased on the Sonic live stream, Aaron Webber of Sega, (Sonic social media guy) asked fans for franchises that people would love some merch for on the Sega Store. NiGHTS Into Dreams was also teased, but Shenmue caught my attention.

Apparently around the launch of Shenmue 1 & 2 new merch "may" be added to the store, with a jacket heavily teased.

Whilst this is awesome, and will pick up any and all of the new official Shenmue merch, this'll be what...the 5th "official" Shenmue jacket - if you include the $2,400 fangamer jacket on the Shenmue 3 slacker backer campaign. Previously there were 3 iterations of the jacket on Insert Coin Clothing - Hoodie, Faux Leather, and Bomber.

Worth noting that Insert Coin teased they "are" working on some new stuff for Shenmue I & II.

Meh, there are so many jackets you can have, I'd love me some replica mirrors or something along those lines.

I would love an affordable figure of Ryo for my nerd shelf. First Four Figures did a great job on theirs, but the cost has sky rocketed to unaffordable.

I'm still waiting for those WorldBox 1:6 Shenmue figures they announced back in 2015. Haven't heard any news since.

Who knows for sure. All the IC stuff is officially licensed though. It popped up on their twitter around the time of the announcement. See if I can find it later on.

A good leather jacket can be quite expensive, and I don't know how many people would waste that much money for something so tacky (sorry but it is), so I don't think so, at least from a business perspective.

The FFXV got a clothing line, but while expensive and somewhat tacky, it's actually weareable.

Also in the kickstarter there was a tier for a replica, so I guess most people that wanted it got it (mostly because of the hype rush).

I don't think the KS reward would prevent SEGA doing their own (especially considering it would be way, way cheaper for obvious reasons), but you're right that the quality vs cost angle might make this a pie-in-the-sky idea.

However... what if they were to release replicas of the patches Ryo has on his jacket?

Judging by the rest of the merch they sell on the SEGA Store, I would assume it to be similar to the zip up hoodie that Insert Coin did for their first jacket. The site is awesome, but has more of a screen printing vibe to it, than unique quality items.

We'll have to see though
