I was in a sandwich shop yesterday and gaming came up. I told the staff there about Shenmue. They were questioning what I had said at first as they had never heard of it but I explained the basics. They are now interested in it; especially at the $30 price.

Sadly, still no listings of the Shenmue HD Collection here in America.

I reckon it would be higher if Amazon's search wasn't hiding it further down the listings. Might have changed now, but when I searched the other day, I specifically had to enter "Shenmue 1 & II" in the search field just to get it to appear. Searching just shenmue was bringing up a whole bunch of Dreamcast and merchandise related listings first.

Xbox One sinking like a stone. Now somewhere in the 80s. Pity I don't own an Xbox One, otherwise I'd grab a copy. Can't bring myself to drop money on it.

I’ve never been sure how serious to take these things on specific store websites? Is it the item with the most preorder’s total? The last week? The last month?

I think it may be one of the latter two as normally these charts are filled with games just announced and games coming out very soon. I also find it hard to believe Shenmue has more pre orders then something like Red Dead 2.

Amazon ranks are updated hourly and usually based on sales (and pre orders) over the past 24 hours. I'm guessing how far it goes back depends on how active the category is too, since obviously some of the really old games probably don't sell a copy every day.

I'm surprised it's even coming out for that platform. I guess as the architecture of both consoles is similar it won't be as hard to port to both of them at the same time, but will Sega make their money back on the copies they print? Good for Shenmue Xbox fans, though.

I figure it's just tracked hourly. Not trying to read too much into this, of course, but it'll be interesting to track the rank as we draw nearer to the release date. I would imagine it's selling pretty well if it's coming close to God of War. Last I looked, Shenmue 1 and 2 were #5 on the list. I figure Sega must be feeling pretty comfortable right now.
