No Japanese release?

It appears there won't be any Japanese release of these HD remasters at all.
I wanted to see the Coca Cola machines in HD.

The re release is coming out in Japan but only on PS4. No PC or Xbox version in that territory.
Adam Koralik confirmed no corporate tie ins so im assuming no Coca Cola vending machines even in the Japanese PS4 version.

In the worst case, there are 3 sellers on Amazon Japan selling it on the PS4 for 110 GBP (142 USD) I think their price is expensive but they are shipping US copies to Japan.
Even though Sega probably won't promote the game in Japan, I'm sure that it will get released, even if it's a silent one

I'm pretty sure it's coming to Japan. They announced it at a Japanse event and released a Japanese trailer which only includes the PS4 logo, not Steam or Xbone. I guess that's because PC gaming and Xbox both are not really a thing in Japan.

Well its not available to preorder in the Japanese PSN, any physical game stores ive been to (i live in Japan) and it has no presence on any Japanese websites minus US/EU copies being sold.
I would say its not coming to Japan or Sega is launching it at a later date for some unexplained reason.

I'd put my bet on a later release date for Japan as the Japanese trailer also just says "2018" instead of "August 21st, 2018".

How on earth do these rumors get started/conclusions get leaped to?
The game has had a dedicated Japanese web page on Sega's official site from day one.
http://shenmue1-2.sega.jp/It's taken longer for the local release date to be announced, but China and Korea were just recently confirmed for August 22nd.
As mentioned, it's a PS4 exclusive in Japan.

Hey guys, I think this thread has run its course. Shenmue I & II are definitely getting a PlayStation 4 release in Japan. That's been confirmed multiple times in the past by SEGA so there's no need for concern.
In the unlikely event that something officially changes on that front, feel free to open a new thread.
