Basically, the Broken Sword 5 kickstarter reached its goal, but now they want more money. In order to get them, they've set "stretch goals". Each time such a goal is met, BS5 is supposed to get 'better', and if they get 1 000 000 greens, they will greenlight Beneath a Steel Sky 2.
The whole deal just doesn't make sense, to be honest, and it seems like a very lame way to raise money. Many people are pretty irritated that they 'know' exactly how awesome BS5 will be based on the money they will get and that Beneath a Steel Sky 2 deal seems pretty fishy.

But thems are the breaks. And I think the few mess ups kickstarter will produce will be more than worth the many wonderful gems that will be delivered to us free of a publisher's grubby handprints. Devs finally won't have to worry about including in vogue features that the publisher demand.
