Which ending did you get?

Just about the worst one possible.
Everyone died a gruesome death. Then Junpei gets to a submarine dock and either gets stabbed or shot (can't remember which) in the back by Zero, and falls in the water.

Not the most sparkling of possible endings, I'm sure, and it left me laughing from the sheer "wtf" factor of it all. Absolutely loved that one playthrough though, and I know it was pretty much just the tip of the iceberg, so I've always been meaning to get back to it.
I want to know who Zero is. And I've thankfully avoided spoilers for this long.

Damn, this topic hasn't had any life in it for some time now.

So I figured out who those wild character/monster designs were from (the Japan only Strategy RPG game Volfoss).
You know, like these ones: http://pb.xors3d.com/Junkyard/Volfoss/Compendium.html
You may remember I posted that on here ages ago.

Well, it's all from a guy named Yasushi Nirasawa, who's also the monster designer on Eternal Poison, which I just got (and looking through the artbook, his designs are just...well, you'll see). He's also the creature/monster designer on such games as D2, Virus (Saturn adventure game) & Deep Fear.
Sufficed to say, this guy's art just went up in my book, because I mean, just look at it, it's so freaking wild.

The second-to-last pic reminds me of the kind of thing Keita Amemiya would do.
Which means I like it a lot.

EDIT: I love the reinterpretations of such classic characters in the Wizard of Oz for DS. The Tin Man especially.
Like a bulky steampunk robot version. Just awesome.

Main character from Growlanser VI is the best character design in the series, imo.

Nemeroth from Warhammer 40K: Space Marine.
The armor design is just insane. And when he shows up, it gives the game this really sudden "hellish" vibe that it just didn't have before (being a far-future science fiction actioner and all). Just a very effective character design.

^ I love Vigil. The art they do has grown on me to the point I love it. I love it as much as I do many of my fave Japanese ones. First real western studio to do that in some time. They love curves, skulls, faces on everything and bulky characters. They are not afraid of color either in these freakish over the top designs. Most when they do darker stuff devoid the game of color. Yeah I know that is Relic but that character screams Vigil and even see patterns on his armor found in armor in loot in DSII. So they had to have some hand in it

Nope, Vigil had no hand in it. The game is stemmed from the Warhammer 40K universe, and they've been doing this kind of design work since the 80s. The whole super-bulky armor thing became popular to use very much thanks to the art style of the Warhammer franchise. It was pretty influential in that respect, but rarely gets the credit it should. The skulls and whatnot can be attributed to the fact that the franchise also has fantasy inclinations (the main enemies are Orks... in space).

*EDIT: Actually, scratch that... I just beat the game, and Vigil is mentioned in the credits once. But it's only under "Special Thanks". It says nothing specific about what they may have done for the game. So I'm unsure now.*

Vigil's games mainly look the way they do because of Joe Madureira. They have a variety of artists working on them, sure, but his specific style is the general basis for all of the design work therein.
That actually reminds me, those rolly-ball magic golem robot things in Darksiders 2 remind me a helluva lot of Joe Mad's design for Calibretto in his old comic Battle Chasers. Wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional.
Just makes me long for an actual Battle Chasers game...

I quite like the artwork for the new DLC Double Dragon game. Wish I could find more of it.
It actually translates really well in-game, too. The character models look excellent.

I don't get it.

I've always felt Genzoman's art was so generic and very amateurish. Its like he's almost got it, he can get the structure in there but how do his designs stand out from other deviant art members?

I know its "your" favorite, but how do you differentiate him from a ton of other people who all have the same style? Is it just because of Double Dragon Neon?

also this is his profile: http://genzoman.deviantart.com/

Wasn't really aware of him before. I agree it's nothing special in the grand scheme of comic-style artwork, but western-made videogames rarely tend to show off a good "cartoony" style, so this stood out to me when I played the demo. It's not about the designs being particularly creative or anything, I just like how smooth and clean the style is.

Should probably change the topic title I guess. I wasn't trying to imply that this was actually a favorite, just that I liked the artwork.

Ah, didn't meant to seem so picky I'm just interested because I don't have art for one of my games and want to know what people find interesting.
