If Shenmue HD happens

Do you think it'd be one game or both games?

The first game was originally planned to be chapters 1-6, I think.

If it's only one game there could be a problem with branding the 3rd game as it'd go Shenmue HD => Shenmue 3.
One possible solution could be to name it "Shenmue - Chapters 1-6" and then name Shenmue 3 "Shenmue - Chapters 7-??"

I agree with Ruben. Financially, I would think that two title would be more profitable than one unified game. Logically speaking, the next game couldn't be called Shenmue III but Shenmue II instead. Think of all the mega blockbuster movie franchises that are split into parts and apply it to Sega's mentality. Would they want to make one game that makes millions, or two games that could multiply their earnings?

The thing is though we still have not go the damn thing, just another let down rumor. So far anyway.

But I hope it sees the light if day by the end of this year. People were excited because they thought it would come out this winter. And yes it will be 2 separate purchases for we the Shenmue fans. Even if they come out at the same time I don't see it as a package deal.

I think Sega will make it two games, like they did with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2.

If it comes out, I'm buying 1 and 2 for all available consoles. I'm also going to write an eboot fix for CFW PS3s so we all can enjoy hacking the HD Shenmue.

It will be a miracle to even see the first one but I don't see them bothering with the second one at all tbh. I hope its the wrong idea because Shenmue is a 2 package deal in my mind, and should have been 3 ages ago.


Edit: And I don't even have to tell you the Sonic Adventure games are/were not a risk for SEGA, they knew those would have good sales. Or at least decent.

Shenmue 1 as a stand alone would be too slow paced for todays audience. Even, dare I say, boring. People need to be encouraged to play through to the end of 2 without losing interest. Very important they see the ending that's left us salivating for 3 for so long. I would even say they should go so far as to abridge certain parts of the first game, maybe the second as well, and release it as one package.

^ I don't think Shenmue is too slow paced. Sure it may not appeal to ADHD riddled kids hooked on FPS's, but I give the people of the world enough credit to be able to "get" Shenmue. I've met so many different kinds of people and gamers who really do appreciate it's slow paced and grounded nature. I think people just need easier access to it than we have right now having to rely on our creaky beloved DC's

Well said Chris. I agree that I don't think we give some of the world enough credit. Now if that's enough that could translte into profit for Sega? We'll just have to see. It'd be interesting to realease that game in today's enviornment and see the reaction it gets.
