Osiris (Ubisoft new game)

Postby Bluecast » Wed Jan 30, 2013 2:43 pm

Straight from NeoGAF is this rough demo video of Ubisoft Montreal's latest project, "Osiris." The news was discovered shortly after it was revealed that Ubisoft is putting the Prince of Persia series on the back burner.

A Prince of Persia-like game was hinted at during the last E3, but it turns out instead to be a new IP set with an Egyptian theme. After some footage of a mo-cap session for the game, we catch brief glimpses at concept art featuring an insect plague, an earthquake, a pharaoh, and some other strange person / creature that quickly flutters across the screen.

This is such an early peek from the Assassin's Creed studio that we don't even know what platforms it'll run on.

I'm intrigued by the idea of this, but is there anything more underwhelming than footage of motion capture? Save that for behind the scenes footage not the world debut.

Yeah what everyone thought but Ubi soft yesterday said PoP is on indefinite hiatus until they feel ready. This game is just a leak and was not really announced yet. What little info is out and going by some of the concept art this might be more of a GOW clone.

The content in question was from a Ubisoft project that is no longer moving forward.

I'd say the depiction in that screen-shot is fairly accurate. The ancient Egyptians were mostly like brown skinned caucasians similar to modern Iranians. Since nothing, as far as I know, has explicitly said "hey these are arabs" we should give them the benefit of the doubt.

Iranians(persians, azeri turks or any other iranian ethnic groups) have no physical or genetic similarities with ancient egyptians,
Ancient egyptians look more like east-african populations with a dark red skin and light facial hair( not like in that image)
the dominant haplogroup among them is the E-M78, descendant of the east african hgrp E-m35 and cousin of the berber hgrp E-m81

That is all just a very sly way of saying Egyptians were nubian/black, which isn't true.

This is still a highly debated subject so it's possible that we're all wrong and they were a group of Sun worshiping Chinese who got lost trying to hide from Mongolians.

A Egyptians/A.lybians (libu)/berbers/east africans are very close genetically, and their languages all belong to the african branch(Hamitic) of the afro-asiatic language family .
You can't simplify and say they were black or white, that doesn't work in the MENA.

who said I was talking specifically about skin colour? though yes the native people would of been darker than the Arabs who moved in later on I was also talking about their facial features and general representation, it's closer to the modern day Arabic Egyptian rather than a desert dwelling african native that look significantly different the middle eastern tribesmen who moved in later on
