I think it's for tea, so that you can imagine drinking sweaty man ball juice while having some fresh tea you bought from the market

I did think tea-bags could go inside, but, do they drink that over there?

Next you'll be telling me they eat crumpets as well! ;-)

America is more of a coffee country but there are tea enthusiasts, and that is for loose leaf tea.

I just like drinking tea and thought stuffing it with marigold tea and giving it to a guest would be hilarious when they see a fat little man "pissing" in their cup of hot water.

oh my goodness I am in love with this Cherry Pie strain, most excellent sativa. I also got this other strain called Lambs Breath, that weed almost actually smells like doo doo but it doesnt taste like that at all, it has a very distinct flavor. Also got some OG Kush but the cherry pie was definitely the show taker of this batch.

Put a preorder down for Jake Adelstein's second book, The Last Yakuza: A Life in the Japanese Underworld.

I've been waiting for this book since I finished reading his first book and memoirs, Tokyo Vice. Unbelievable o think that came out in 2010 and the next is due April next year according to Amazon.

Here's the link to the article about the book from a site Adelstein contributes to. It's about a Yakuza member who still believes in the death and honour regime today's Yakuza seem to have forgotten according to him. Now he serves as a 24-hour bodyguard to Jake whenever he visits the country due to a hit placed on him from his days as an investigative journalist.

At the time, I wasn't overly excited keen about Tokyo Vice until I read this article (which subsequently piqued my interest in a game called 'Yakuza 3') and was recommended to read it by a friend. Once I've finished the current book I've just bought I'll re-read Tokyo Vice for the third time in preparation for his latest book.

I got slightly put off of reading Jake Adelstein's books after I read this 2012 article by him:
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... s-peaceful

I think this response by an actual Japanese woman who actually lives in Tokyo is pretty pertinent.

This article is naive at best. It is really poorly researched actually and just not true.
Many western people believe the PR machines of the Yakuza and romantic gentlemen gangster mythology. But the reality as any Japanese living in a big city knows is very different.
The Yakuza infect every aspect of life here.
They are in corporate fraud, manipulating stock prices and driving businesses into bankruptcy and asset taking. They are engaged in loan sharking, protection rackets, pornography, illegal gambling, and despite what the article (and thier PR people) says they are also engaged in drug dealing and human trafficking, prostitution and kidnapping and blackmail. They corrupt police and government officials and elected representatives.
Where do you think they get their money from for goodness sake???
Yakuza do not stop street crime, unless it is bad for business.
As for their contribution to relief efforts their puppet company get very lucrative contracts for rebuilding and clearing waste. It is a marketing expense not charity.
It is makes me so angry to see my local Yakuza group (Sumiyoshi-kai) swaggering around the streets and walking in and out of their "office" and "social club" and the police do nothing.
I am happy that at last the government is doing something to stop these gangsters

I found it pretty funny that a supposed expert on Japanese organised crime comes across as naive and ill informed to native Japanese.
