Ender's Game.

They basically took the plot of the book and added all kinds of shit to it that didn't need to be there. At least from what I remember reading from it. Wasted potential.

Saw Cloud Atlas finally..
Didn't like it very much at all. Overly convoluted for no reason. The plot is barely apparent until 2 hours into the 3 hour venture. The story jumps around so much it makes unenjoyable. I did like the Neo-Seoul story line but it was upsetting it was constantly interrupted by other story lines that were far less interesting.
Give it a 2/5

Pain & Gain.

WTF did I just watch? Was this supposed to be a dark comedy...based on a real-life series of murders? With Marky Mark and the Rock?

What were they thinking?!

After Earth.

I'm a fan of both M. Night Shyamalan and Will Smith, but c'mon...Jaden Smith can't act here.

Saw the new Evil Dead. It's kind of bloody.
Awesome chainsaw kill at the end. Actually, the movie was surprisingly good overall, considering that it's really just meant as an old-fashioned blood and gore horror flick.

Watched Mulholland Drive for the first time last night, which I know may appear weird since I'm such a nutjob fan of Lynch's, it's like claiming to be a big fan of John Carpenter and not having seen Halloween or a big fan of Fincher and not having seen Fight Club, but regardless, I really liked it. I think the ending is pretty conclusive, which is pretty different from Lynch's usual style where it's more ambiguous. What I was really surprised by was how funny the film was, at times. Aside from Twin Peaks, I haven't really seen Lynch do humour in his work, so it was a nice surprise and change from the usual. Overall, it's a film worthy of its praise.

I also watched Inland Empire and I think that may be Lynch's worst film. It comes across as a really pretentious and weird just for the sake of it. Lynch is pretty much running around with a digital camera doing extreme close ups on characters who have nothing interesting to say. It just looks really cheap and tacky. I'm surprised he managed to get such a good portion of his cast from his previous work in there (Justin Theroux, Harry Dean Stanton, Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, Grace Zabriskie etc) and managed to just waste them. There's no real subtext or hidden meaning to this film like there normally is, it's just relying all on atmosphere and little to no plot involved. It's just essentially a bore to watch. Pretty big drop in quality, no wonder he's now no longer making movies. :???:

Watched a couple of timeless classics and very different movies; Forbidden Planet & Dodsworth.

Dodsworth (1932)
Never seen this until now and it is an excellent movie. A seemingly happily married couple go on their "second honeymoon"; a European vacation and find that they are very different people in the process. The acting (like many earlier films) is superb and without spoiling too much you really do feel for Sam at times in this film, it seems the situation he finds himself in is an all too familiar one.

Forbidden Planet
Excellent Sci-Fi movie which I assume most people on this forum has seen at least once. Such a great film which holds up really well and a film I can watch over & over, thanks it's great story, atmosphere, some very impressive special effects (for it's time) and especially thanks to the beautiful Altaira (Anne Francis).
Truly is a classic, if you haven't seen this film watch it!

Writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson steps outside his contemporary world of dysfunctional Angelenos to explore a very different dysfunctional man -- an oil pioneer whose trailblazing spirit is equaled only by his murderous ambition. There Will Be Blood is Anderson's loose adaptation of the novel Oil! by Upton Sinclair, and it focuses its attentions on Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day-Lewis), a miner who happens upon black gold during a disastrous excavation that ends in a broken leg.

Monsters (2010).

Directed by Garth Edwards, who directed the Godzilla reboot slated for next year. Not very impressed with it so far except for the fact this guy made the whole thing practically himself.

Better Off Dead.

Way over the top 80's teen movie. It was enjoyable.

Thor: The Dark World

It was okay. Some action was good but I generally had no idea what the point of the movie was other than to lead into Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers 2. Plus alot of the jokes were a painful miss, they shouldn't have bothered.
