^^I'd never heard it before, but that actually was pretty freakin rad.
Here's a couple of my favorite bits of action music from the past generation. May have posted them before in the old music topic, but oh well. Both made the scenes they appear in some of the most memorable from their respective games. Truly excellent stuff, and these soundtracks really deserve more recognition.
I still think this is one of the most beautiful videogame melodies I've ever heard. Crazy thing is, I've never even played the game it's from, so my opinion of it doesn't come from any attachment otherwise. It's just great on its own. One of my favorite Uematsu tracks, easily.
Bought Atlantis on gog.com the other day. I always had a soft spot for cheesy old Cryo games. Was surprised when I heard this track. Didn't remember Atlantis having any notable music.
With this particular soundtrack, there's no way you can go wrong. You can pick just about any track from it, and it's guaranteed to be excellent. Was reminded of this a couple hours ago though, and it perfectly evoked that beautiful title screen loop the game has, where the camera flies through an underwater reef and all its sea life. Best title screen ever.
Was just messing around with capturing footage, and ended up beating the first Yakuza from an old save. Totally forgot that the ending credits featured a version of Amazing Grace. Pretty good version, too.
I used to play that game all the time in the arcade. I remember finally getting it for the Master System but I was always a little disappointed with the port -- still loved it though and is one of the few master system games I still own. Plus the music is cool. :)
