Yu Suzuki would like to make 3 more Shenmue's to complete the story. Heaven, if that ever came true.

I love Suzuki's attention to detail with the npcs. This guy is truly one of a kind. Game developers these days just anit what they use to be.

Great job, some decent questions there!

Makes me sad reading it though - the unfinished state games get released now and to think Yu Suzuki is ready and waiting to create another master piece!

Sad times....

Thanks, aizen59!!

Great interview. :)

Though Yu is kind of an asshole. Talking about Shenmue 4 and 5 when we can't even get Shenmue 3. :( </3

You have to understand that he s not talking about Shenmue IV or V he just said that the story would probably need Shenmue IV or V in order to be completed, thats it.

Very informative interview!

I think it is interesting to know that Ziming Hong is not one of the four leaders, since in the comic he was shown talking to Niao Sun like he was equal in the Chi You Mens hierarchy. Also on the picture of the four leaders the silhouette really looks like it could have been Ziming, especially since he was dressed in white...

All the time I, like every other shenmuefan, would have thought he is Koutei. Very interesting.

I really hope at some point YS will just do a kickstarter. I always thought SEGA is the problem but it seems like if he could fund the game they would give him the IP, which is kind of good news. I thought SEGA may have been restrictiv regarding the IP.

No worries, i am okay with jokes but a french website has modified my interview title for a few hours to grab clicks and earn money saying that Yu Suzuki was already thinking about Shenmue V and i had to clarify things before it got out of hands.

To make it simple, i am responsible and if a known website modify my itw content on purpose causing damages to Yu Suzuki's reputation, i have to work on it and make sure they dont spread fake informations.

Nothing against you but i had to make it clear in case someone else thought the same way.

Internet spreads informations so fast, i have to keep up and make sure people understand that he only mentioned Shenmue IV and V because i asked him if a single game could cover whats left and of course, thats near impossible unless he cuts too many important parts. But if he does, Shenmue would pretty much lose its soul.

Sorry if my message sounded like i was angry. I am not, really. I just want to stay in touch with Yu Suzuki, the Shenmue community need it. And if i can help, i always will.

Fantastic interview, it's amazing that after all these years we're learning that Ziming Hong is in fact not one of the four leaders!

He only mentioned Shenmue V but it's still clear that investors who are ready to cover several episodes would be in his first list. That could explain why Shenmue III takes so long to see the daylight, Yu seems to be still highly ambitious and refuses any average project for the moment with Sega giving him a lot of freedom to make the right choice.

In fact, the problem has never been Sega but Yu Suzuki himself. At the other side, Sega is putting more and more pressure to Yu as the economic health of the company is getting worse, and Sega definitively need a big game other than Sonic to make money before it is too late.

So it's pretty sure to see Shenmue III as a videogame one day, with Suzuki or not at the head project. Now the question is when and at which level of quality ?

Yeah, I'm afraid the talk of needing more games will scare away any interested publishers. If it were one of the main three systems I could see them making it to lure gamers to buy their systems while gaining fan support for the system too. But if they see the need to make another two games it will really make them cautious as to not create yet another Shenmue 3 situation.

Unless he's already in talks to make Shenmue 3 and so he feels more at liberty to talk about needing another two games. I'm hoping that's the reason he's started talking about 4 & 5 in the past year.

I really think they could develop them all at once, all on the same engine and console so there's no need to try to push the envelope with the next game. Just keep them all the same graphically and get them all out.

If you read my previous posts, i said that i wouldn't be able to reveal some things so regarding Baihu, i am sorry, but i have to.

For the Chiyoumen bosses, as you know now, they are :

Zhao Longsun / Rantei / 藍帝
Niao Sun / Entei / 炎帝
???? / Koutei / 昊帝
???? / Gentei / 玄帝

And of course, ???? / Tentei / 天帝

We will probably come across other Chiyoumen members (low ranked) before facing the high ranked bosses, but thats it. We still need to find their real names since Entei, Koutei and Gentei can be seen as their nickname within the organization.

I really pray for Shenmue III to happen. So many things awaits and the story is just gonna be epic !

You saw Koutei right so my question is
Koutei is not and does not look like
