I was the same with zelda, tired of it, maybe burned out. Then I played Link Between Worlds on the 3DS, that one little game revived my love for the series, the way it brought it back to A Link to the Past, and took place in THAT version of Hyrule. I was right back in to zelda after playing that throw back goodness.

Pretty much any jrpg and wrpg. They both try to drain time from you, one with fetchquests and useless experience points, and the other one with dungeon crawling.

I would like to like them again, but I can just play around 5 hours and say "this is cool, but I don't care for 40 hours more of this".

Also, I guess the sims is a regular for most people, the game wasn't that fun to begin with, the cheats made it a little more fun/funny, but when you killed a couple of sims it's pretty much the same.

EDIT: thinking about it, I guess I got tired of most games and just play graphic adventure games. I like from time to time to play a fighting game, but then I remember I suck balls.

I find it really hard to play JRPGs these days too. I was never really in to western RPGs though.

Im not tired of JRPGs, rather they just dont make them at the same quality as they used to. I feel like JRPGs are the laughing stock of the RPG sub genre anymore with exception of just a few big name franchises. I think since these new school gamers came along JRPGs have lost a good bit of their market, companies just dont want to give them the development budgets they deserve and thus mediocrity. I still havent seen a true next gen JRPG (not sure I ever saw a true last gen JRPG). JRPGs need the next big thing to come out and set the record straight again.

RPGs are a laughing stock in general, nowadays. Very little of them from either the West or Japan catch my fancy anymore, it's really just Persona 5, Nier 2, whatever From Software makes (Dark Souls, Bloodborne, etc) and Deus Ex for me and that's it...

The genre just like open world games got so boring.

Just to let you know, there is a Shining Force III as well for the Sega Saturn. I never played the third game(s) (I believe it is three games in Japan, but just one in other regions), but the first two are superb!

SF3 was a great game. Still have all 3 scenarios and the premium disc and would gladly still play them if I had the time :D

I guess the old Amstrad games would fall into the category of "can't stand playing anymore". It's not that they've aged badly it's just games were so tough back then. You never expected to complete many of them and I wouldn't have the patience to try again. That said, I did download an emulator a few years ago and completed a couple by spamming the "save state" function. Cheating, I know, but I just wanted to see the endings! :rotflmao:

No cut scenes in those days, just a screen with a "lived happy ever after message". Quite an anti climax when you cheat your way there but I probably would have wet myself if I'd done it properly as a a kid!

Tekken. Used to be a big fan of the series till Tekken 5, but after that the series just didn't feel right. The new mechanics like bound, atrocious character designs (Lucky Chloe FTW! ) and lack luster effort Harada and his team have been putting in it nowadays turns me off.

It is Tekken's 20th anniversary and he is focused on Pokken and his Waifu Stimulator, not T7. Even then, he still has the balls to call Tekken as his life's work :/

The original top-down GTA. It has aged badly, but the controls and aiming are eye-wateringly bad to try to use nowadays, IMO...

Yeah, GTA III and Vice City are similar imo. The inability to control the camera makes em almost unplayable.

JRPGs. But I actually enjoyed Ni no Kuni and would absolutely buy HD versions of Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia.

Generally speaking, everything that's too time consuming with not enough payoff. RPGs, open world stuff. I also stopped playing Assassin's Creed after III, which I didn't really like. Still planning to play through IV though, because pirates. There are definitely some exceptions every now and then. Looking forward to a new Red Dead for example.

I recently played the PS3 version of Sonic Adventure and thought damn, was it really this trashy? :D The Sonic levels are alright, as long as he keeps running and doesn't have to push any switches or look for some bullshit item that's needed to progress. The Gamma stages are okay, the rest is really somewhere inbetween 'meh' and 'terrible'. Absolutely hate the Knuckles levels now, even more so in Sonic Adventure 2 (which has aged a lot better than 1!). So yeah, Sonic Adventure.

I guess for me it would be the main series Pokémon games. I never really found them as special as others, but I did love them back in the day and did up until around Heart Gold and Soul Silver, then began to lose interest around the time of Black and White. Once I got Pokémon X, I realised that it's just not for me any more, and they just feel too similar each time. There's no reason for me to get excited about Pokémon these days and I can't see myself buying any upcoming games in the main series.

I'm sort of beginning to feel the same way about Super Smash Bros, the latest one feels really good in terms of gameplay, but it also feels so stripped back and doesn't aspire to be anything special. It's just... another Smash Bros. It's great they're adding in lots of DLC and extra stuff at least. It's a great game, but I can't see myself keep buying them.

Not much I can cover that hasn't already been covered!

Zeldas after the original four, most mid-90s 3D platformers (besides Mario 64 and a handful of others), the vast majority of first, second, and third generation console games (outside of the true classics like Pitfall!, Super Mario Brothers 3, the Castlevanias, and so forth), open-world games that aren't Elder Scrolls (GTA/Watch Dogs/etcetera just don't feel "alive" to me because everyone is so expendable and everything is so empty; I'd rather have something like Shenmue where it's smaller but highly detailed).

Heck, pre-Oblivion Elder Scrolls is tough to enjoy. I adore Morrowind, one of my all-time favorites, but even modded up it's fairly archaic. I've been playing Daggerfall lately, and it's not unenjoyable, but so many of those early polygon games, especially on PC, are just dated and rough plays in 2015.
