Collecting for Shenmue just got a lot harder this past month.

Apparently the busts are undervalued according to some people, so Yu has to take money from somewhere else.

It is quite obvious now isn't it? Most of the US is asleep and most of Europe is off to work and all the busts are gone in little over an hour. How could they not have seen this coming? Super rare items that have been featured in the project Berkley promo. It's just crazy to sell them off this cheap.

I wonder if Yu has any assets left to use for Shenmue 3 and sequels, after giving away original character models and scripts. We basically stripped the man of everything. I hope he can at least keep his Ferrari.

So this answers the questions if they still have the busts. I've been asking myself if they still do.
Amazing that they give these away. That's like the ultimate piece for every Shenmue collection.

I'm sure he still has everything he needs for Shenmue 3. Dude's a perfectionist! I imagine no one could twist his arm to sell something that he'd need in future development anyway. They've probably already scanned the Shenmue 1 busts or they are recreating new ones for Shenmue 3 onward.

Odd that they didn't opt to make the busts a higher tier. Awesome reward though!

The new $39 tier seems a bit silly to me. I can't imagine it'll encourage many to upgrade from the standard $29 tier. I think they should have offered something else with it, like a MP3 of an exclusive song or something. Or a set of Shenmue avatars (or even a theme) for PSN (if it's possible for them to offer those).

I was just kidding around. Though I feel bad we are taking away basically holy grails from him. It feels a bit wrong. I can say for sure I have huge respect for the guy as he is parting with stuff that's probably sentimental to him, for the sake of the game.
