E3 2016 & Shenmue 3

Next year's E3 will be exciting, because that's when Sega will announce Yakuza 0.5: Guilin, for December release.

Think it's just because it's the "in between" year. Still looking forward to it all, and the current batch of leaks is starting to get the ball rolling. Monday is just an insane day. But it's still 4 days away so it will build up until then.

But this time next year and all hell will have broken loose. I mean if Shenmue HD has the best chance to be announced, it's at next years E3. Plus we will be months from Shenmue 3 being released. Scary times, especially if the next year goes by as quickly as this year went. I mean wtf. I've blinked and I've missed it seriously.

Personally, I'm extremely excited for E3. Especially after Cédric's answer to you (Those three !!! and ;) are just killing me!). I agree with you about the "in between" factor. The fact is that I missed the livestream of last year E3 and I would love to feel the excitement of watching the conference with the hope of a Shenmue 3 appearence. Unfortunately, it will be 3 am here so I don't think it would be reasonable to stay up this late.

As for Shenmue HD, I'm starting to give up on an announcement at this year E3. I still hop they will announce the remasters (they have to eventually ) this year at TGS or PSX. If this doesn't happen, then it has to be at E3 2017... I would completely loose faith in SEGA intention to really bring back the franchise if the announcement doesn't come by E3 2017.

Anyway... I can't wait for the Sony conference, cause I'm 99% sure there will be a treat for Shenmue fans

Man, you can sleep when you are dead. I always stay awake for E3! Never miss it. It's live, there are surprises and anything can happen, just as Sony proved last year. They set the bar, and these companies now know what gamers want. That's why I have high hoped for this coming week.

As for Shenmue, we will see what happens. Plans change, and we might see Shenmue in some shape or form. But HD remakes are a while coming yet. It's Sega so they do take their time with things that are not Sonic. Next year is the best bet.

I think if Sega were going to announce Shenmue HD remakes, that Cedric would be at E3. This would be a huge marketing/promotional moment for Shenmue 3. I would certainly think that Sega would have let them know their plans in advance since it is in both companies interest for them both to be successful. I think the most we can hope for next week is an update to Shenmue 3 a year later.

The HD's must be announced at coming E3 in order to support Shenmue 3. If they're not, it'll be too late.
A Shenmue 1&2 HD are worthless in terms of supporting Shenmue 3 if they come after S3. It may not be important for die-hard Shenmue fans, but it is for newcomers. Without newcomers S3 will not be financial success. And without financial success ther's not gonna be S4. (don't tell me about another kickstarter campaign)

A 6-12 months gap between releases is the best option. I think.

- If those are going to be separate games, then S1 must be announced now and released before 2017. S2 must be released not later than summer 2017. Or else it will be too late before, or even later than S3 release.
- If S1 and S2 are planned to be released together, then they still have to be announced at coming E3 and released not later than summer 2017.

Time for sega to finish the great investigation and start to do useful things.

Hmm, not necessarily dude, I mean...correct me if i'm wrong, but was Cedric even at E3 last year when Shenmue 3 was actually announced? It was the Sony people and Yu Suzuki on that stage, no one outside of the tight nit Shenmue fans would really recognise him anyways for him to need to be at the event. Yu Suzuki is the face of the series, and he only really needs to be the one at the event for any type of Shenmue announcement imo, and Cedrics tweet doesn't mention Yu not being there

Shenmue 3 publisher Cedric Biscay has revealed on his official twitter that there won't be any Shenmue 3 gameplay footage at this year's E3.

It's hard to say, but later in the discussion Cédric says it's "clickbait".

Since his answer is from June 1st and the "article" was out yesterday only (June 9), I can understand why he's somehow p***ed off.

The other aspect, imo, is that Cédric's intention when he posted the first tweet ("Sorry for the teasing but I am playing #shenmue3 and I am loving it !! " ) was actually to tease Shenmue 3 near the E3/Kickstarter anniversary.
The fact that the article conclusion is "there will probably be NO Shenmue 3 gameplay at E3" is kind of bad press (gamers need to know where their money went, blabla...) and of course, that wasn't Cédric's plan.

I'm convinced there will be a "surprise" at E3, because of Cédric's answer and the criptic "TODAY my answer is no".
His reaction to the article is another confirmation of this (at least, to me).

I'm not ruling anything out until the end of Sony's conference on Tuesday. Could we be disappointed? Of course, but I feel it's a 50/50 shot that we get something of substance. Just my opinion.

If there is a presentation, it'll be short. At most a collection of the kickstarter updates and possibly Magic Monaco material. Wouldn't mind hearing an estimated date for Alpha gameplay, since I and probably everyone else here bought on or above that level.
