But the only "fear" I have is that not everyone is a loyal supporter of Shenmue and Yu, and it only takes one morning for one of these click bait journalists to wake up one morning and think, "hey, how's Shenmue 3 getting on?". It doesn't take them long to find out there hasn't been a monthly update in a while, compare it to MN9 and previous tainted Kickstarters and once again we are all fighting against articles with such titles as, "SHENMUE 3 IN DOUBT AS UPDATES DWINDLE", and, "YU SUZUKI LEARNS MODERN DAY GAMING THE HARD WAY AS SHENMUE 3 PROVES TOO MUCH", spreading like wildfire.

Not the fault of YSNET or Yu at all of course. We prefer zero updates and let them get on with the game. Anyone with common sense knows that. Unfortunately, those fishing for clickbait shock exclusives don't possess the element of common sense.

Unfortunately, it's going to happen sooner or later.

We'll have to deal with it and as loyal fans, do our best to inform / damage control in the smartest possible way until Yu & YsNet prove to the haters and click bait journalists how wrong they are.

Been a while.

I can attest to Peter's fears, now more than ever due to a personal event.

My father has been a small town doctor for 48 years, running his own practice. At age 84, time caught up to him and he knew he'd have to call it quits as his health declined.

He took time off to see if he'd improve. When that didn't happen, he started to plan out how he wanted to go about everything.

A reporter got wind of him being away and rumors, contacted Dad and my father told him "I will be retiring. I will announce my plans soon myself."

Suddenly, a hastily written article showed up in the paper by said reporter, disclosing things my father explicitly said he wanted to do on his own and closing with a statement that unhappy patients could complain to the medical board if Dad didn't announce soon.

After 48 years and a town that loved him, my father was forced to go into defensive mode and hastily announce his retirement to avoid possible tarnishing to his career..it's been a mess all because of penhappy journalists.

I tell this story because it's been Hell for me, devastating for my old man who had his own ending written.

I can imagine, literally, what it'd feel like for YsNet for assumptions to be made and actions forced just because you take a little quiet time to get your stuff togethee.

The media is one of the most awful, immoral and sickening things in the world. They're out for themselves and they don't care how many lives they ruin with their lies. There is no more journalism any more.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your father. I only hope it helps to know that the number of people who believe everything, or indeed anything they read in the media is dwindling.

I see the Kickstarter comments section has completely shat itself.

Uh? It's not the first time we haven't got a monthly update. No media cares about that.

That's awful, Valascaziel.

The media - both news and videogames - have some outrageously poor representatives who handle their position irresponsibly and selfishly.

But with what's currently going on in the world, I think it's important to not write off the media as a whole. Incredibly there are honest journalists with a social conscience, and we need to support those guys now more than ever.

That's fantastic. Thanks for checking with every news and media creator to confirm that. Can put my mind at ease now.

Well, I check news about Shenmue almost everyday thanks google tools (and sure I'm not the only one to do so here) so your irony is quite null.

Considering how "poor" and occasionally non-existent the updates were so far, the media had all the gunpowder they want to trash the game but the only negative articles finally come from the fans themselves through some opinion blogs.

If really media criticism have to happen, it would be kind of legitimate anyway as YSnet/Awesome Japan had given their word. Fortunately, everybody forgot, or as I said, just don't care.

I think the Happy New Year "update" served for January which technically makes sense.

Luckily February is a short month so we'll be getting a new update soon!

The KS comments section was always a cesspool. Either half the accounts there are sockpuppets for Karim, or they're just playing along.

As for the media- skipping a month or two probably won't ring any alarm bells unless someone puts the idea that things are fucked up in their head. For the most part the KS has been ignored considering there are already morons saying "Whatever happened to that scam Shenmue III Kickstarter?".

They shut up once you tell them the KS has been updating regularly, but that might change with an extended period of silence.

For now, skipping a month is no cause for alarm in any sense. I'm expecting AJ have been flooded with questions about this and we'll probably be getting answers soon enough.

That update never made it onto the Kickstarter, it was on the Shenmue.link website only. It definitely wasn't intended as a proper update in any respect.

Thankfully, you were found out last month with your whole, "I've heard things" bullshit so your opinion means nothing to me. Also say a lot of people don't care because you major ally have such a negative view about absolutely everything this Kickstarter stands for that always makes me question why you post when you do. (I wasn't asking why either)

An argumentum ad hominem, that's all you found?
Bullshit? The information was proven wrong while I was absent from the dojo? Why this obsession about this? I never harassed anyone with that.

I'm not having a specific negative view on the Yu's project. You're mistaking what I said about points for what I'm thinking of the whole thing. If I gave you the impression to be stingy of "positive" remarks, it's because I consider useless to repeat what the other Dojo members said, with better words than mine. But when things are arguably wrong or worrying, obviously I will give an opinion.

People will rage for a bit... then there will be an update. And then if the update is seemed insufficient, people will rage some more for a bit. Then in due course we'll get new footage and everyone will be excited again. Then this cycle will repeat as the game continues to near release (though I always expected a delay and still do. A significant one, even.)

Then the game will come out, and will likely get fair to good reviews, and people will troll all day and night about how after all that it was only "mediocre..." meanwhile Shenmue fans will probably absolutely love it. And it will sell at least well enough to be deemed a financial success, and in the end, those last two points are really all that matter.

Shenmue fans being happy, and the game selling well enough to profit and justify further installments.

That's my prediction, and is why I'm unconcerned. You can't control people being outraged on the internet... fortunately, internet outrage is fickle and changes the moment something new comes along, or new information is revealed that turns the outrage on its head. Which will happen in due time. It won't affect anything in the long run.
