Sega Festival 2018 - FES

Postby James Brown » Thu Apr 12, 2018 1:22 pm

If anyone wasn't aware, Sega are hosting their own event in Japan this weekend (14/4). SEGA FES 2018 will be taking place in Akihabara of Tokyo and will span across both Saturday and Sunday! There's also going to be a "Special Announcement"!

Fellow Dojo member Switch of http://www.phantomriverstone.com has been hard at work on his latest blog post, which details all of the information about the event and has a fantastic translated schedule!

Check out the full details over on his blog post :) - http://www.phantomriverstone.com/2018/04/sega-fes-event-schedule-14-15-april-2018.html

Please use this topic as a general discussion about the event if you are interested in it!

The event is going to be live streamed over on:
Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLHAMwGyDNE
Twitch - https://www.twitch.tv/segaofjapan

We're currently unsure exactly which time slot the "Special Announcement" will feature in, but keep an eye out, and watch the live stream - it should be a great event regardless! =P~

For anyone wishing to know when the event actually starts here's a handy countdown timer :)

Thanks Switch! Had thought about linking each slot, but this page would have got super cluttered really quickly with like 12 videos lol!

Going to be fun watching 2 streams at once though! Will have to mute the most boring one at the time haha #-o

If anybody hasn't been paying attention, a lot has developed on this in the last hour or so.

Sega America and Europe hyped the event up as having a huge announcement, as did Koch Media's French account (so whatever it is, it's getting a retail release most likely), and then:

This... may need relocating to a Shenmue board.

Wow that reply from Sega Europe, seems to almost semi confirm it haha...don't want to get too excited over this, but it's hard not to when they reply like that to a specific Shenmue tweet!

In light of that tweet -

*TOPIC MOVED TO SHENMUE DISCUSSION*

Atleast until we find out what exactly the special announcement is, just incase =P

Looking forward to 2am! Live stream party anyone? :)

Can someone post what the Tweet was?

I'm not getting my hopes up. I don't want to walk away disappointed.

...If this ends up being some sort of Sonic All Stars Racing BS announcement ("featuring Ryo from the upcoming Shenmue 3!")...then Sega will have mastered the art of trolling :rotflmao:

The next Sonic racing game was already teased last month, and is almost certainly confirmed to be Sonic-only racer at this point. Whatever it is, it aint' that.

Overt teasing towards Shenmue HD. There are a lot of people hyping this event, from Koch Media to the ATLUS USA guy who does work localising (maybe?) SEGA Japan's content and bringing it to the West. It could be more than one announcement, but I really, reaaaaaaally feel that Shenmue HD will be a part of it.

Interesting......

Im guessing it will be sonic racing with Ryo involved, but i don't mind that. I love that series. I'll be staying up, but im not expecting a HUGE announcement. Here's hoping we get Phantasy Star Online 2 or a sequel.

If Shenmue HD gets announced, I'll run through the street naked.

Thanks. We'll see what happens. I'm of the mindset that if it doesn't happen this year, then it's not happening so now is the time.

This is probably the one thing it won't be. At least, very unlikely based on the scuttlebutt about that next Sonic racing game. The game may show up but... I don't expect it. Japan aren't very nuts about Sonic and it's quite telling that the vast majority of big Sonic announcements are made at US events now. Plus the tease was only about a month ago, I think they'll hold on until maybe near E3 to say more about the next racing game.
