Which Arcade Games should be in Shenmue III?

After playing Yakuza 3 again, one thing that irritated me was looking at the Virtua Fighter arcade machine in the game and not being able to play it. Instead we're stuck with a couple generic arcade games. This had me thinking about Shenmue III.

With the current capabilities of the current generation systems, I think Shenmue III would have the potential to include several different types of arcade games for great enjoyment. To push the envelope even further, adding online support would be an even greater feature. That might not be too cost-effective so online might be wishful thinking on my part.

Even though the arcade games would be relevant to the time setting of the game, I think for novelty purposes it would benefit to add games beyond 1986-1987. Besides, there's already a Sega Saturn, VF capsule toys etc. Which Sega arcade games would you like to see included?

Virtua Fighter 1, 2
Daytona USA(barring any license restrictions)
Virtua Cop 1,2
Sonic Fighters
Virtua Racing
Fighting Vipers(As much as I like this game, I think Sega/AM2 would be too generous to include something like this in a Shenmue game)


If we can get to Shenmue V. I'd like to see LA Machineguns so I can blast some people before I whoop Lan-Di.

Hmm Shenhua has like 5 arcade machines in her dad's basement/cave with futuristic games! So that's why she's so special Ryo was having those dreams because he needed to play arcade games that were so ahead of his time he had to seek out Shenhua all makes sense now!!

Off topic did anyone ever think Shenhua was subtly trying to say her dad was the tree? I did when I first played the game

You know, I forgot the Saturn came out in the 80's must've missed that one.

Still though 3D games in the Shenmue universe is pushing it a bit.

I stated the obvious in my original post about the game being in the 80's. There's also Virtua Fighter, Sonic and NiGHTS capsules and all of those came out in the 90's. I think certain games still hold a strong bit of nostalgia to a point where you could put it in Shenmue and it would still make sense. Compared to today's graphics, Virtua Fighter 1 definitely is "retro" enough to be placed in the game. VF1's graphics are horrible to todays standards, but would be groundbreaking in Shenmue's time, even if it is about 6-7 years ahead. The Saturn came out 8 years after Shenmue's 1986 timeline, but yet it's in the game.


If they could only add one new arcade game into Shenmue III. It should be Virtua Fighter 1. Yu-Suzuki's greatest achievement not named Shenmue.

They should stick to Yu Suzuki/AM2 games.

The first 2 VF, Fighting Vipers and Daytona would be great.

I would love to have MK1 with Lan Di as the final boss.
To be more relevant, Daytona would be cool and also that game in YOUArcade that isnt playable. The one with the seats that the dudes you see driving motorcycles play.

Another example of me shitting my pants over DC visuals when playing 18 wheeler at a movie arcade.
I must be very biased because since DC nothing has wowed me as much in terms of visuals jump and how vibrant that thing was.
