Yakuza is for fags like you real men prefer Shenmue ;)

Never played Yakuza but I'm getting the third. From what I've seen they only have a few similarities. Why compare them? And why act like girls?

If you have a PS2 I suggest getting the first two. The story carries over alot and they are great games.

If you ever played Yakuza you know why to compare them. That both - Shenmue and Yakuza - are made by SEAG seems to be an odd co-incidence, but the games share quite some similarities in look and feel.

While the story is completely different the gameplay looks familiar if you played Shenmue. The Camera Angle is different, but as in Shenmue 1 you run through a quite large area in "FREE" mode, like in Shenmue you encounter loads of (less talkative though) bypassers, hubt for hints leading to your next big clue on the story, go into all kinds of shops and restaurants, have a fight here or there and pawn crap items for cash.

Yakuza was never intended to be a "Shenmue replacement", but from all the titles available the series is obviously the one "closest" to the Shenmue spirit. The focus is more on fighting, you can't train certain moves and they don't have outrun in the arcade (Some virtua fighter clone in Y2 though). Play it and you will realize its NOT Shenmue 3, but SEGA didn't forget totally about the Shenmue spirit when they made this. R3N says it is for fags, but if you like Shenmue then good chances you will also like this game. Unless you're R3N of course.

if you are unsure about the investment maybe try Yakuza 2 on PCSX2 emulator, so you can take a peek at the game and just forget and delete it if you really don't like it. PCSX can't compensate for the feel of a real PSX2 joypad, but you'll get how it looks and feels.

Some people have done "lets play" videos of both the games on youtube so I will probably watch them first.

^ I've seen a few. Good way to kill boredom. There's a user called ScottishDuck and he's done a lot of classic SEGA games including Shenmue. They do talk too much sometimes though.

Can't stand his accent. I found Yakuza 1 cutscenes in chronological order and started watching them, but they soon ran out unfortunately.

^ His accent doesn't bother me but he's killed the word epic.

Wrong, they are good at making excuses. And yes, tennis is a perfect example.
