Dead Souls mode done! It's reputation let it down, really not as hard, or even a grind to make it easier. As soon as you upgrade to some beefier weapons it becomes much more manageable. Saying that, the hardest parts are when you start a new character and have their default weapons.

Another Japan-exclusive console we'll never see. For a Yakuza 5 special edition, it has some curious design choices..

Also one for Ken's Rage 2.

Credit to Yakuza Fan!

In past Yakuza games the hostess sections would normally follow a distinct pattern of questions and answers with the player choosing lines of dialogue as answers to questions. Yakuza 5 breaks this formula by allowing conversation happen more freely with the girl reacting to the players more realistically than before. Topics will be brought up from information learned around the city in free roam.

All hostess conversation is now fully voice acted using the full facial mapping to give the most life like performance. Instead of the old build up hearts system and have a sub story and a date you can now ask them out at any time depending on your hostesses mood. Asking out a hostess and completing a date activity might unlock more parts to a larger sub story for the girl.

In addition to the regular items you can order to drink there is also a new “Gacha Drink” mechanic that will randomly select a drink for a smaller price. You won’t know what you will get until you try! It could be a cheap drink or something your hostess does not like or it could be a champaign call or even other rare items!

After leaving on a date with a girl you can roam around the city freely arm in arm having a meal or hitting one of the cities play spots or bars. Play well against your girl in a mini-game and you might be rewarded with a kiss.

Form a deeper relationship with the girl and expect to have a deep and fulfilling story that will be unique to each character.

(As if it wasn't embarassing enough playing Hostess segments already!!)

Still a cheesy aspect of the game, but it certainly does sound more compelling this time around. One aversion I had to them before was how stiff they always felt. It was like playing with one of those dumb old Tamagochi toys or something. This time it at least sounds a bit more natural, so I may actually engage in them more than I did before (provided we actually get the game).

"You can roam around the city freely arm in arm" and "Gacha Drink" are the only new elements. Everything else was there since ages.

The graphics look exactly the same. Fine with me, but I already got a PSN message from a person who said that he is tired of SEGA selling PR bullshit about a new engine when the game is as stiff as ever.

Sadly, I'm really not so sure if we'll get it...

I'm not so sure this time. SEGA pretty much said a couple of months back that they plan to focus only on their big franchises. The fact this is a bigger game means it will take longer to translate which means more money pumped into it bringing down the profit margin. Then we have the fact that it has taken about a year for each game to come over meaning we would get it around the same time or after the new consoles are expected. Same thing happened to Yakuza 2 and I think that had the worst sales in the whole series.

I really hope we get it but I have my doubts.

I am almost certain we will, but I understand your logic, it's a reasonable one. I just think Sega will give the Yakuza IP a free pass on that business model.

I only fault Sega regarding the fact it's the 10th Yakuza game all and all, and still no Yuma Asami, Hana Haruna and Hitomi Tanaka hostesses!
Unforgivable.
