Yea but a lot of things got scrapped, its stuck between being hyped and mass marketed and being what Ken Levine believes to be a truly good game. Theres a lot of stuff that he wanted to add, and platforms he wanted to hit (WiiU and Vita particularly) but much of it is just going to hit the bin.

Had the first game for awhile and just never played it. The trailer from the VGA's looked amazing and I'm now really in the mood to give the series a go.

In an interview with wired.com, BioShock Infinite's creative director Ken Levine talked about the decision behind the game's box art, which has received a negative reception online from fans.

Basically it comes down to the idea that the cover is not for fans who have been following BioShock Infinite's coverage, and more for the gamer who likes shooters, but rarely buys games or reads about them. Levine makes odd, but appropriate analogies to his salad dressing purchasing habits and how some people buy video games in the same way.

"There are plenty of products that I buy that I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about. My salad dressing. If there’s a new salad dressing coming out, I would have no idea. I use salad dressing; I don’t read Salad Dressing Weekly. I don’t care who makes it, I don’t know any of the personalities in the salad dressing business.”

Levine makes a good case for the cover art that many on the Internet have been negative about, and says that alternate cover art will be available to print off online soon.

It is, ultimately, a totally pointless thing to bitch about anyway. Boxart doesn't affect the game itself. It's there for marketing and selling it. He makes a good point, even though I found little fault with the boxart in the first place (the main character with a gun; surely a proper representation of the game's contents, at the very least).

I actually kind of like the boxart. Who cares if it's a cliche or not...

In all honesty, it's not much different from the boxes for the first or second games. Bioshock 1, the protagonist had no face; he was just a representation of the player. Thus, a box shot of the Big Daddy in an action pose. Probably about as cliche as you can get there as well, but no one complained. Bioshock 2, you play as some kind of prototype Big Daddy (or something) so the box shot is of that. Again, no one complained.
Infinite, you play as a specific human character who happens to use guns.
Box shot of him. With a gun.
"Gasp, no! Terrible, cliche shite! This injustice must be remedied!"

I think the worst thing is, people will complain about inane things like this when it comes to a prominent, big-name game, but when do they ever come out in droves and celebrate it when a lesser-known game has great boxart?
Makes no sense. It's just more of that stalwart pessimism that I've notice the gamer community loves to revel in. Find something to bitch about, whether it matters or not, and focus on that for the time being until the next big complaint comes along.
What a wonderful way to live.

I actually think the boxart is pretty cool. It looks very out of place to have a guy dressed like that holding a fucking machine gun.

Think Ive actually seen more people complain about the burning flag than the guys pose.

I do think they could have done something better but its not going to put me off the game.

You can vote on reversible artwork. #4 & #6 look best IMO

#6 is like a Norman Rockwell or those WWII propaganda type posers. #4 is like the cover of Magazines from the 40's and 50's. Used to have some

BioShock Infinite ending "like nothing you've experienced in a video game before"

I'm looking foward to this game, but in my humble opinion overhyping can only backfire

Absolutely. I like it much better when something "OMG Amazing!" just hits me, instead of the devs (or whoever) shoving it down my throat beforhand. Usually I'll just end up thinking how wrong they were.

And those reversible cover art options all suck.
