Japanese version of this text

Postby shenhua legend » Tue Dec 07, 2010 6:26 am

Any chance to get this in romanji?.

He shall appear from a far eastern land across the sea,
A young man who has yet to know his potential,
This potential is a power that could either destroy him or realize his will,
His courage shall determine his fate,
The path he must traverse, fraught with adversity, I await whilst praying,
For this destiny predetermined since ancient times,
A pitch black night unfolds with the morning star as its only light,
And thus the saga...begins...

Good job! I'm impressed. However, some Kanji readings should be corrected as follows:

You can check how they are read in this video, though some lines (italic part) are omitted:

Actually, that English version lacks that part as well.

You don't need to apologize, but don't forget that computer could never give you a perfect translation. ;-)
Anyway, I didn't know that Google translator does the romanization. Neat feature!

Both of you are slightly incorrect. Part of the reason your romaji differs is because you're using two different systems of romanisation, both of which are perfectly correct as there is no official standard. You are correct in saying that google translate cannot translate Japanese to English correctly, but this is mere romanisation which google is actually quite capable of. Here's what I believe to be a correct romanisation using my preferred romaji system.

Sono mono, azuma no totsukuni yori umi wo watarite arawareri. Wakamono, himeshi chikara, imada shirazu. Kare no mi wo horobosu koto mo, Kare no negai, kanaeshi koto mo, Sono mono, isamitatsu toki, ware wo motomen. Tomoni areno no michi wo ikan. Machite negae. Kaigou wa ware no inishie yori no sadamenari. Machite, manazashi wo muke yo. Ji yori arawareshi ryuu ga, Anun wo izanai, ten wo ouu mo, Maiorishi houou, Sono Tsubasa ni yorite, murasaki kaze wo umugagotoku, Shikkoku no yoru wa hirogari shimo, myoujou wa hitotsu kagayaki, Nagaki monogatari wa ima, hajimareri. [Shenmuu ichi shou Yokosuka yori]

We all make mistakes, i may have made one myself, but it's better not to correct someone regarding a language you clearly know nothing about. It may make you look a bit silly.

Clearly he's not, because he would be aware of the different romanisation systems and also that 彼 is never read as 'ka'。

Well then, she is a Japanese person who doesn't know about romanization systems or the correct reading of a kanji learnt in elementary school.

3 posts in and disrespecting her. You won't be making any friends here this way. I can't dispute Kanji but when you insult the most respected Shenmue fan. You have no clout at all and won't gain any with this attitude. Not to some one that has contributed more to his community than you could ever hope to do. So back off the disrespect

Well perhaps I am incorrect, as i wrote in my post. It could be an old reading of the kanji not regularly used anymore to make it sound poetic. As for the romanisation systems though you can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romanization#Japanese, either is correct. Apologies.

After researching, yes it is sometimes read as ka. So it is in fact I who looks silly. I stand by my point about romanisation though.

Even though you made a mistake, you could have avoided looking silly by learning how to dispute somebody's point without being an ass about it.

Perhaps Wikipedia has a tutorial on that too.
