I feel so polarized by RE 6, its like I hate it, and like it. There so many small things about how it plays that it adds up to a big thing, and I just honestly have no fun in Chris mode and don't really care for getting shot at as jake and Sherry.

I think thats a big part of it, i don't like being shot at, then again I kind of feel like the J'avo even after becoming Kriszalid are far from threatening, they're just kind of annoying to be honest. I was never afraid when I saw a neo umbrella trooper, which look like a cross between a cobra commando and psycho mantis after an especially intense s&M session, I just cursed aloud because it meant another bullet sponge was on screen. He wasn't going to flank me or try to creatively force me to waste ammo, he was going to look at me and take it while he fired at me.

Then again as Leon and clair stuff like the gunshop is interesting, if you have a good co-op partner the crimson-ish heads and flying zombies (i call them that because theres times when a zombie will jump 40 feet through the air to grab you) aren't really scary but they are threatening even tough they're fairly easy to kill.

Well honestly I have never felth fear while playing RES franchise but more like you said threat of having flanked by dozens of zombies trying to take a bite of your head. The pressure of atmosphere and awkward places makes the game much more "threathing" than scary and that's how I've always seen the franchise.

but thats part of what fear is. Think about it, you aren't afraid of the dark, you're afraid of whats in it, and why? because it can hurt you. Resident Evil was always great at that, great at making the player feel trapped by making them backtracks and go through the same places, great at having enemies that could finish you off.

RE1-3 doesn't ever throw more then around 6 zombies at you, in the original game, its rare to see more then 1 in a room. The threat of a mob of zombies isn't what makes things tense, its the idea that even a single zombie can kill you or cause you to waste supplies.

the idea is the games are scary because they're threatening, but even beyond comparions with older gaes, Resident Evil 6 doesn't throw challenging enemies at the player, often they're just spongy, they're around to take hits, like goombas.

What you said is true in some cases but it doesnt mean its same with everyone.
Just like in combat situation when untrained frozes totally another one acts and put a side the unneccesary fear which makes no harm. The threat does. So concentrate on that.

But its true that nowadays the "fear" element comes from masses when in old days it came from awkward camera angles and uncomfortable locations. There was always scenes when you didnt see the zombie until it was right in front of your face.

Zombie to me are the furthest thing from being scary. However REmake freaked me out with Crimson heads and the music setting and atmosphere made me fear every corner

Capcom toying with re=booting the RE series.

As someone said in the comments. Can we just reboot Capcom?

He says they're considering it. But he also says that the console version of Revelations will act as a test to see where fans want the series to go as well, so it actually sounds to me like Capcom's being pretty reasonable on the subject.

I didn't realise that the owner of the Resident Evil 1.5 prototype is currently working to release it to the public, I'll post their "making of" documentary below.
