Was just amazed a second ago about how good this year's actually been for games imo. So I took a picture of all the games I actually purchased this year.
Kinda amazing.. how much money I spent...
I know alot of sequels but still, damn fine ones and overall a good example of how good console gaming becomes when a generation hit's it's maturity.

I don't think its a good sign that a big chunk of those games are actually from last gen.

Watching two guys play through Fatal Frame 2. It might be even better with the added Japanese commentary.

I don't mind sequels, gaming is pretty much built on it (think about it most of our favorite games are sequels, either directly or spiritually to something else)

Just that's there is far fewer new IP retail releases than ever

Well yea, only 1 of those games was a new single IP, of the 18 IPs 4 were created this gen.

Theres a lot that could be said about this gen but its better to not be a wet blankie about it.

Personally I dont care so much these days if its Final Fantasy 47 or Gangnam Style Adventures. If its a good game it deserves merit for its accomplishments. Theirs only so far you can take the sequalz and portz is ruined teh video games arguement before you end up in the corner with the other D&D table top players. Heck Nintendo has built generations of "recycled" games to us but we still buy them and love them because they inovate with new gameplay or graphical aspects. Same goes now with Microsoft, Sony and pretty much any large game company. Its always been like this. The only reason its more noticable these days is because the gaming industry has grown to such a gigantic level.
In short I just wanted to share a pic of how much I actually dug all these games that came out this year, regardless of history.

There is not a single console maker who has not recycled the same IP for years. But for every Final Fantasy XIII there is Xenobalde and The Last Story, for every Halo/ there is Borderlands/Bioshock. Just that the new IP's are getting smaller and fewer far between. Sequels can be nice but be nice to have a balance between the two.

Just saw the cover of the last Nintendo Power issue online. It's awesome. I want to pick this one up, but am having a hell of a time finding ANY issues of the mag on news stands. I've scavenged all the stores that sell magazines every week, but I haven't seen an issue of Nintendo Power since some time in Summer. :???:

That would be more comforting if I could have seen a November issue on news stands. or an October one. Or a September one. I haven't. Either the news stands where I live just don't carry the mag any more, or people have been scooping them up in droves ever since the announcement.
