PS4 announcement? Kaz said that they will wait for Microsoft but wouldn't be the first time a company lied.

Improved features and mechanics or not, OoT excelled in what only Wind Waker has managed to match. The overall execution. That is not nostalgia. If I developed a game that flawlessly imitates real world physics using perfectly accurate motion controls, does that automatically make it a better game than your GTAs, Assassin's Creeds or Darksiders? Yeah, because anyone who says no is just being blinded by fond memories.

But how does one truly separate nostalgia from fact in what qualifies "great" execution?
Granted, it's a hard thing to define, mainly coming down to personal preference anyway. There may not even be such thing as "fact" when it comes to a subject like this. Some may complain that TP takes too long to really get going, while I always go into a Zelda game expecting a slow-burn anyway, so I remain un-bothered by it.
Is anyone right about it?
Nah, not really.

All I know is I played OoT, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess all for the first time within the span of about a year and a half -- long enough not to get burnt out on the series, but not so long that I'd develop anything akin to nostalgia toward any particular one -- and at the end of it all OoT didn't seem as "godly" as everyone constantly goes on about, because the later games (barring Majora's Mask) clearly seemed superior all around.
Of course that's just my own experience with it.

When I reference much of OoT's "best ever" status as being attributed to people's nostalgia for it, I'm not implying that it's a trash game that people only like because it makes them feel like kids. What I mean is that, being the unique early experience for many people that it was, it shaped the basic model for what they consider to be a game done "right".
When later games come along using the same general mechanics, any deviation from the OoT mold is likely going to strike them as being the "wrong" way to do it.
It's not a matter of being "blinded" necessarily, just a matter of having one's own idea of how to do the games properly, shaped by their own individual experiences from earlier on. That's still nostalgia.

First played the serie son NES and did not like it. Then played OoT in 1999. I liked it. Enjoy it. Still do. I just agree with OL and personally don't see it as one of the best ever made.

EDIT would like to add OoT has one of the most surreal atmosphere's in the series which was great.

No, all you've really done is point out the obvious, that perception of quality and preference can be largely down to opinion. Let's look at Windows for a sec. Are you honestly telling me that those who prefer XP to Vista (and consider it vastly superior) do so because they're "stuck in their ways" as it were?

I could detail a ridiculously huge list of "best or favourite game in series" for each one I've played, and there would be no pattern other than what a quantum physicist may see when attempting to trigger a wormhole to a pocket dimension. So by your logic, with all these reboots crawling out of the woodwork in recent years (in the entertainment industry as a whole), surely they should all be deemed "better" by default because of bigger budgets and higher production values?

They will still support. 10 Year plan never meant no new console.

Yea but its all technicalities really. The ps2 got "support" in the form of PSP games or yearly franchises like Madden and WWE.

I think the PS3 is just going to get a lot of Vita ports and that'll be their 10 year plan.

It will still be better than what the XBox got and yes i know of the issues but MS could have supported it after the 360 came out.

Well yea. in general I actually think this 10 year plan is better. I'm going to grab alot of games being released on ps3 and Vita on PS3.

The 360, I think most people will drop it for whatever comes next.

Unless the new gens are gonna be cheap, I really can't see that happening. I couldn't name a single person I know who'd just drop it instantly for NeXtbox 720 8 or whatever. Even peeps on here.

I meant developers. I don't think normal gamers are going to jump at these new overpriced consoles.

Based on its current sales i can see the 360 having the best support after the new consoles launch.

Nah, most of Microsoft's 1st party studios and 2nd party interests are either finishing up a project for 360 and then moving on, or have already started working with next gen hardware. Most of what we'll see on the console are PC ports that are also on PS3, except the PS3 will also get vita ports.

Its funny despite the 360 install base being incredibly high, overall software sales are down.
