Now the whole thing isn't exactly creepy in the haunted mansion but parts are. Hands comes out of the walls and kidnap your party or these giant skeletons come out of mirrors and kidnap them while this ghost child laughs at you. Armor coming to life startled me even tho I suspected it. The thing I found most creepy was you find a book and read it to find how a woman went insane and sacrificed her family to a cult or something then herself. As you progress you hear this woman moaning. At first I thought it was the ghost of her. The rest of it is standard fair.

Oh and this is really an optional side quest no the HM bit is not really spoilers

The talk of bringing back Baldur's Gate reminded me of it's creepy opening. It's a cinematic of a faceless, nameless soldier reaching the top of the tower clearly fatigued and running from something. You soon find out what it was as the door is burst open and you're introduced to the antagonist, Sarevok. An incredibly sinister creature, human in stature, but his unhuman yellow eyes means he's something more. He's stalking this knight and revelling in the hunt as he's giving that very creepy laugh throughout as his prey is begging for his life. It's a good indication of what you'll be up against later as Sarevok lifts the guy with one hand, and crashes him through metal fencing as if it was nothing. And then he laughs all the more as the sound of the knight's life is being choked out of him and Sarevok is literally crushing his throat (you don't see but you can hear the bones snap and the blood rising up in his throat choking him).

A giant Skeleton is not creepy at all. However one throwing a giant ball of screaming heads is.

First area in Vagrant Story. No music just groans and growls. Also Zombies.

^^
Would have been creepier if the game hadn't been edited for the US release, since he was originally trying to take advantage of Paige in the Japanese version. The english dialogue was changed so he was just like "You have to do your homework! Come back here! Mwahahaha!"
I absolutely adore the game, but it's still too bad that it was edited so badly. I'd still love to play a more faithful version, no graphical changes, Japanese dialogue intact and all.

Deus Ex - Daedelus

What's creepy about this is the first time you hear it. Up until this point, you've been contacted by other people you work with through a MGS-esque codec system. At a point in the game however, you get the noise of a message coming through, as expected. Except, the person on the other end isn't someone you know, in fact it's some thing...

"I now have full access to your systems"

In a creepy synthesised voice to boot. You soon find out it's an antagonistic AI, designed to track you. And the messages keep coming, with taunts, questions, warnings and misinformation contacted through to you by codec messages at first, but as you continue, you also get them through phone calls and posted messages on public computer terminals more and more frequently. It gave me the impression that it's slowly but surely closing in on your life and there's nowhere to run.

I was setting up a section of "Project Conqueror" and I realized I was "borrowing" a lot from a section of Shining Force that creeped me out as a kid.

Shade Abbey

You arrive at a closed off abbey deep in the mountains to hear this sad song, and as you search the building you see signs of battle and keep finding people who have no idea where they are, in the graveyard and morgue. After you speak with them they block the exits and force you to the chapel where you see the main villain and all the people following you turn into zombies, AND your main character is completely cut off from the party.

This is on NES. Has a fucked up story. Movie was ok. Game is creepier amazingly. After seeing the film (You can find it on Youtube. Sweet Home) You get this scene. Really fucked up. And as some know this inspired Resident Evil 9 years later. In fact RE was almost a remake of this game

In Psychonauts, you play as a young boy named Razputin who is attending a psychonaut summer training camp (a psychonaut being like a secret agent with various psychic powers). Most of the platforming levels take place within the minds of various adults around the camp. The mind of psychonaut/camp counselor Milla Vodello is an upbeat disco dance party, unless you find a secret room...

The mansion where you meet Emil in Nier. Pretty much the whole thing at the mansion, I will never forget the hall where the paintings change after you return to it and they have evil looks on their faces when you return.

Doesn't now but when I was younger and first played this the roar then seeing the size of the thing(considering limitations of 3D games back then) this was pretty big and when the tv was loud it freaked me out.

If you want a creepy, "oh shit, I'm going to die" intro to a boss fight:
