Perhaps I'm being cynical. But I'd say you're being somewhat naive.

Hadn't seen this before and thought it was hilarious. Hopefully they turn it into a full fledged series.

In case there was still any lingering doubt, Carrie Fisher has confirmed her return to the role of Princess Leia Organa in Star Wars: Episode VII in a recent interview.

Chatting with Palm Beach Illustrated, Fisher joked about what an older Leia might be like. "Elderly. She’s in an intergalactic old folks’ home [laughs]. I just think she would be just like she was before, only slower and less inclined to be up for the big battle."

If she's joining the cast, then it would seem like Hamill and Ford are soon to follow. It's probably all but official. I'm glad that the three of them would be in episode VII and am hoping they're more of supporting characters than the main ones.

When I saw this topic had been bumped, I assumed it would be about this:

GameCentral wrote:It seems the Force is not with LucasArts’ next gen Star Wars game, with insiders claiming it’s been put on hold because of the new movies.

Star Wars 1313 was not only the best looking game at E3 last year it was the first, along with Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs, next generation game to ever be shown in public. Of course LucasArts didn’t admit it was next gen at the time, but the graphics were clearly a major step forward for the industry.

You’d think that with the official unveiling of the PlayStation 4 that LucasArts would now be ramping up the coverage and showing the game off in all its glory. But that’s not happened, in fact it now looks possible that the game may never come out at all.

According to insiders speaking to website Kotaku development of the game has been ‘frozen or put on hold’, and for sadly predictable reasons. The problem is Disney’s acquisition of all of George Lucas’ companies and the fact that not only does Disney have very little interest in the traditional video games market but all its plans for Star Wars are now focused on the new trilogy.

LucasArts themselves insist that the game hasn’t been cancelled, and issued the following statement statement: ‘LucasArts has been working diligently to take advantage of the tremendous opportunities that the new Star Wars movies present. Star Wars 1313 continues production.’

The problem is 1313 was conceived before the new movies were announced and is set just prior to the original trilogy, in a wretched hive of scum and villainy on capital planet Coruscant. The exact nature of the game has never been revealed but it’s believed to be inspired by Uncharted and possibly featuring a young Han Solo and/or Boba Fett.

According to Kotaku’s sources the game was originally conceived as a tie-in to a planned Star Wars TV show called Underworld, although the status of that is also now in question. The game would apparently have been more of an open world role-player, but with episodic updates introducing new characters.

Not only that but the game was supposed to spearhead a resurgence of new Star Wars games including a FarmVille knock-off and a Call Of Duty style first person shooter named Trigger. It’s at this time that the Uncharted influences apparently crept into 1313.

But now it seems that the only games that Disney are interested in, if they are interested in any at all, are related to J. J. Abrams’ Episode VII and beyond. It may even be that Disney simply sell off the license to make Star Wars games to someone else, something it hinted at as soon as the buyout from George Lucas was announced:

‘We’ll look opportunistically at console, most likely in licensing rather than publishing, but we think that given the nature of these characters and how well known they are, and the storytelling, that they lend themselves quite nicely, as they’ve already demonstrated to the other platforms.’

References to 1313 have crept into the Clone Wars CGI series but whether that’ll end up being the only official outing for the concept we’ll have to wait and see..

The source is Kotaku though (whose sources are "sources"), so it could easily be a load of twaddle.

If true though, and the game never even sees the light of day, the franchise must surely be cursed. This of course following the Battlefront III screwjob.

I saw it reported on gamespot as well that the game as been "put on hold". So much for Disney's takeover being pure gravy for star wars fans.
