I have yet to finish FF4 on PSP

Did you experience the same "these random encounters are harder than most of FF7's* boss fights!" feeling that I mentioned a few posts back?

I do remember just many older 2D games where I take 1-2 steps and bam random battle. SOA always seemed like 3-4 steps at a time

You know, I don't think it was the frequency of Skies' battles that bothered me as much as the length of them. Fortunately there was always the music... Ahh the music... It kept me sane.

I think the problem was not on frecuency.

The world map music + the beauty of the world made this free time to travel shorter.

It's called pirates101. Exp rate is slow as hell but the world remebers me a lot Skies of Arcadia. The waterfalls, islands and even boats are similar.
The main difference to not call it Skies of Arcadia Online are the character design and towns. They have a very pirate look; wooden houses, clothes, weapons, architecture etc etc. These are clearly not Skies of Arcadia.

I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm lvl 7 now and quests are funny. A lot of them consists to travel with the ship to locations. The combat system is not like mmorpg or action mmo. It's something like Final Fantasy tactics. You have see it by yourself. In my opinion and as a big fan of real action mmorpg I'll say I liked that combat system. Maybe a little slow but it has a lot of fun (and i'm just at the begining).

Lol, no. I downloaded it today. Not made it by myself. But a Skies of Arcadia Online eould be HILARIOUS. I really love the world of that game.

Ok, more news about that Pirate101... It's not Free to play. It's some kind of remix of "pay 2 win & pay 2 play".

You can play without paying from the begining to a lv7 or lv8 quest where you need to enter in a dock to look a ship (I supose it's the 2nd ship you can get) but the entrance costs around 700 cash. That means you have to buy a suscription or buy cash.

And another point is that there's only the 1st area for free players so that means you cannot advance in the game without paying. You get stucked at lv9~.

I actually made all the quests. But I do not want to pay just now. I'll think about it because I found another MMORPG witch is still in development. It's called "Tiara Concerto".

Why the hell are sky pirates so damn popular?

IMO they aren't enough.

But I supose a world with floating islands, flying ships and pirates makes a perfect combination. It's a world full of fantasy.
Damn, Skies of Arcadia really shocked my since the 1st minute of play.

I usually have zero interest in MMORPGs, but these skyship ones do look great to me for the same reasons, since I did enjoy just flying about in the sky exploring stuff.
